Catholic Archbishop Paul Coakley, head of the archdiocese of Oklahoma City, condemned a scheduled Black Mass by a satanic group, for which tickets are being sold at the Oklahoma City Civic Center, as “sacrilegious,” a “blasphemous mockery of the Mass.”
The archbishop also called upon community leaders and board members of the Oklahoma City Civic Center to “remedy this situation,” stressing that he hoped they did not want to “enable or encourage such a flagrantly inflammatory event.”
The Black Mass of Oklahoma, being offered by the group Dakhma of Angra Mainyu, is scheduled to take place in the Civic Center Music Hall on Sept. 21 at 7PM. Tickets are $15.00.
In the description for the event, the ticket office says, “The Black Mass has been a feared ritual, and now it’s being brought into the light! This will not only be enlightening but educational as well. This Black Mass will be conducted for the public to attend with certain adaptations to allow for a legal celebration.”
On the eventful ticket website, it describes the event as follows, “A Religious Black Mass will be conducted as a public event to help educate the public about Religious Satanism. The ritual has been toned down to meet the laws of Oklahoma and the rules of the government building. Enjoy the delights of the Devil.”

Until recently I lived in the Norman area and had the opportunity to attend masses and a few events at which Archbishop Coakley presided and spoke. He’s a serious thoughtful, humble man of prayer. I hope all of Kansas considers him a favorite son. Come to think of it - he’s a polar opposite to the Obama type. But I bet I know which one is praying for the other. The rest of us ought to be praying for both of them.
Who do you put first? The Lord or your church.
He is alive...and real.
You and I are His church.
Am I crazy? Perhaps.
But perhaps not.
Ask Him in prayer.
It isn't about church. It is about Him.
Of course, I might be crazy.
But I put my trust in Him...if that is crazy, so be it.

OK Archbishop, it is time for you to Walk the Talk. How about getting a few thousand Catholics in your diocese together. Have them start demonstrating every night that theatre has a performance. Have them fill the street in front of the theatre so that ticket holders cannot get through. Once the theatre management realizes how much they are losing in revenue along with the bad publicity, they will quickly give up their Black Mass show.
It is time we started marching in America for America.
Christian believers of all kinds should be united in prayers for the Lord to undermine this evil, and if possible bring the offenders to the conviction of the Holy Spirit.
If we say hey this is only a Catholic affair because it entails a mockery of the Catholic mass ceremony, then we can see that Satan catches up with the evangelical segment of the church too. Not to be caught flat-hoofed, he now has brought forth a Satanic Bible. The format of the worship should not be the question. It is WHO that is worshiped that the devil hates.
Ever since he fell, the devil’s game has been to belittle God. We can stoop to his level or we can resist and call the Lord into the picture.
