Richard Mellon Scaife, the Pittsburgh philanthropist and reclusive heir to the Mellon banking fortune, whose support for right-wing causes laid the foundations for America’s modern conservative movement and fueled the 1998 impeachment of President Bill Clinton, died on Friday. He was 82.

Mr. Scaife’s death was reported by the The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, a newspaper he owned. He had announced recently that he had cancer.

Decades before David and Charles Koch bankrolled right-wing causes, Mr. Scaife and Joseph Coors, the beer magnate, were the leading financiers of the conservative crusade of the 1970s and ’80s, seeking to reverse the liberal traditions of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal and Lyndon B. Johnson’s Great Society.

Thanks, I posted the photo of Bubba and Richard to dispell the BS being sold by the MSM. The headlines help drive the message home.

RIP, Mr. Scaife. He’s one of the most important and generous men this nation has ever seen; he funded and founded Accuracy in Media and the Heritage Foundation, two of the most important sources in America. Without him, the public may never know of the extent the Clintons murdered their opponents. He may have had some annoying libertarian views here and there, but even in a vacuum his good outweighs the bad; compared to the media, he’s a saint.

He deserves a posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom. He is truly a modern-day George Washington.

Here is a better story about Scaife (God bless his soul), and one which doesn't give the NYT ad money.

He got exactly the same treatment the Kochs are getting. He was Hillary’s Bogeyman. Same lies, same BS, and the same pattern of repeating the name over and over that we hear Reid doing now. Nothing’s new with these clowns. Funny thing is, his paper has taken to supporting Dem candidates.
