It may be nothing, but when Prime Minister Stephen Harper thanked God for keeping the country safe on Canada Day, he did so with the heaviest of thumbs and it did not go unnoticed.
In one tweet, Canada's leader nearly doubled the amount of Godly references he has made this year, hammering the reference into a Canada Day message, twice.
"God bless you all, and God keep our true north, strong and free!" reads a message posted to Harper's official Twitter account.

Why are such people so upset that our Prime Minister is asking a 'non-existent' (in their view) deity to bless Mr. Harper's countrymen and country? Very simple. Christians understand it to be the work of Satan. The mechanism being, everyone's heart yearning for a relationship with their Creator while their minds say that there is no God. The cognitive dissonance created, needs an outlet, that outlet being the hatred of a 'non-existent' god (in their view), by some atheists.

Exactly. Me thinks the atheists protest too much.

People like this are merely projecting the hatred they have for themselves. The shame is that society gives them legitimacy instead of dismissing them as the loons they truly are.

There are a number of similar issues some people get their panties all twisted about that don't make any more sense to me.
Mormons "baptize the dead." Some Christians and others get all bent out of shape over cultists (in their minds) performing a meaningless ceremony that might involve the name of one of their relatives. Why?
A good many Christians believe anyone who doesn't accept Christ before he dies will spend eternity in Hell. Lots of people are upset by this belief. Why? John Christian's belief has of itself zero effect on my eternal fate.
A good many Jews are mortally offended by Christian beliefs that they'll eventually accept Christ. Why? My beliefs or rituals (or their's) have of themselves no power to cause anything to happen. Or not to happen.
The Bible describes the terrible judgments that will fall on the earth during the last days. It says there will be those who understand that those judgments come from God, but rather than seek Him and ask His mercy, they will curse Him instead.
Used to be I didn’t understand that part. Now, reading every day about the complete and utter hatred some people have for God, I do.

This is one of the problems with the “religiously neutral” state. It is a fantasy. Real people aren’t neutral. They have all kinds of opinions. It is massive discrimination to have religion be an opinion that cannot even be mentioned. Real people are religious. Real people, Canadian and US, do ascribe to religious faith.
And things are so twisted, that the liberals will argue ‘til they’re blue in the face that enforcing silence in this area of religion is balanced, inclusive, and tolerant.
It’s no such thing. It is the most tyrannical form of speech control, and attempts to go all the way to thought control.
Religion, my friends, is the fire detector in the house. Christianity is the canary in the mines.
The next step is enslaving everybody.

Whereas Canada is founded upon principles that recognize the supremacy of God and the rule of law:
Doesn’t the Canadian national anthem, “Oh Canada” mention the word God a couple of times?
People will call God the devil rather than believe He has better wishes for them.
The Constitution of the USA should do even THIS good, my dear friend of the maple leaf. The Declaration of Independence voiced this most noble assertion, but it didn’t quite get into the Constitution.
So I guess you need to become a majority and elect the person who can stand on the dais and espouse your beliefs... pretty simple.
