“I thought Graham was just saying that to make Cruz look bad...”

No, there actually was a NY Times article from about a 15 months ago when Cruz did say that (or if he didn’t, there’s no record of him disputing the article).

But that was then. He had only been in office for about 2 months, and Amnesty was just beginning to hit the radar (for this term). Prior to that, he was too busy being Attorney General here in Texas and probably didn’t pay much attention to national issues.

I do think, at this point, he understands that Amnesty is the ticket for making the country 60-40 Democrat and thereby eliminating the Republicans as a credible opposition party (just as happened in California). That outcome is not obvious to people, initially, on the issue.

I take it back...it was less than a year ago. He should have understood the implications by then. Not good.

How convenient that illegal alien invader “children” are swamping our border. “For the Children” don’t you know. What a bunch of crapola. I’d let the “children” stay if the congress would agree to leave this country forever.

Definitely till we get our domestic problems under control.

Just imposing the rules my great grandfather had to deal with in 1912. He had to swear that he wasn’t an anarchist, renounce his allegiance to the king of Hungary, and swear that he wasn’t a polygamist or follower of a religion that practiced polygamy. Plus there was health screening.

If we continue to bring in 1.1 million legal permanent immigrants a year, the Dems will be the permanent majority party. Since 1990 we have brought in 29 million legal immigrants with at least two thirds of them becoming Dem voters.

How ‘bout we just house them at McNuts and Grahamnesty’s houses! Surely, they’ll be welcoming of the hordes to their haciendas.

For the last 20 years we have been told by the feral government there are about 12 million illegals here.

No matter how many new illegals cross border each year the number always stays at 12 million.

Rand Paul's immigration speech
...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.

Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.

Let's start that conversation by acknowledging we aren't going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...

This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.

Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.

Rand Paul calls on conservatives to embrace immigration reform
Latinos, should be a natural constituency for the party, Paul argued, but "Republicans have pushed them away with harsh rhetoric over immigration." ...he would create a bipartisan panel to determine how many visas should be granted for workers already in the United States and those who might follow... [and the buried lead] "Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers...

I am referring to LEGAL IMMIGRANTS when I mention the number 29 million since 1990.

I agree that the 12 million USG estimate for ILLEGAL ALIENS is probably understated significantly. In 1986 the USG estimated that 1 million would apply for amnesty. The true number turned out to be 2.7 million. If they are wrong by a similar magnitude today, we are talking 20 to 30 million ILLEGAL ALIENS.
