Ben Carson: 'Sad' That People Who Don't Know What Benghazi Is Can Vote (VIDEO)
Talking Points Memo ^ | July 7 2014 | Caitlin McNeal

Dr. Ben Carson, retired neurosurgeon and Fox News contributor, complained on Sunday that Americans who don't know about the Benghazi scandal can vote.

In an interview with World Net Daily, Carson explained that the nation's founder intended for the government to depend "on a well-informed and educated populace," and in doing so lamented that Americans weren't focused on the right scandals.

"Go on the street, and you start talking to people, and you say, who sings the ‘Happy’ song? Most of them will know," he said. "And you say, what can you tell me about Benghazi? And they won’t know: 'Benghazi — isn’t that a singer?' And these people vote. That’s the sad thing."

"Why are we more concerned about how much sugar there is in the beverage that you’re drinking?" he continued. "Not that that isn’t important. But we need to look at the things that are truly having a deleterious effect on our society and stop the subterfuge. We do so many things to distract people."

Carson then suggested that Americans instead focus on a laundry list of scandals coveted by conservatives.

"When we’ve got IRS going on, and Benghazi going on, and NSA going on, and Fast and Furious going on, and a dozen other things going on, and we’re talking about a trademark for the Redskins," he said.

He was also troubled by certain members of the administration admitting to having used marijuana.

"When we do things like have our Attorney General and our President say, ‘marijuana is not that bad, I used it and look how I turned out,’ well that’s the problem," he said.

Under a system of popular government there will always be those who will seek for political preferment by clamoring for reform. While there is very little of this which is not sincere, there is a large portion that is not well informed. In my opinion very little of just criticism can attach to the theories and principles of our institutions. There is far more danger of harm than there is hope of good in any radical changes.

Citizens should have to show up at the polls in person, with 2 forms of ID, and answer correctly three simple questions about our gov’t. If they can’t do this, then they should be barred from voting.

I also think that allowing people to register on-line, or let people register others, should be out-lawed. If voting is important to you, you should walk your fanny down to the local elections office & do it in person. That would take care of a lot of the lowfo voters wandering around.

Property ownership used to be the proxy for “has a stake in who gets elected”.

That was before the gimmedats had a “stake” in who gets elected because it affects their “benefits”.

Well, Doc, there is no treatment or cure for this, is there?

Nope, no treatment or cure. Too few neurons for the doctor to work with. In the worst cases, the vacumn between the ears will suck all of the intelligence out of you if you stray too close.
