Palm Beach Gardens has a Sunday "Fresh market" to which I'm dragged periodically by my family. Every time I'm there the Palm Beach County democratic party has a tent set up, and those manning the tent are always old geezers.

My unsolicited $0.02?

BO is just an opportunist. He's repugnant, and I dislike him on many levels, but at the root, he's just a man who was in the right place at the right time.

As you stated, the people are an issue, but figure that 90% of the population are uninformed fools, who will simply do what they're told.

Nope, IMO, the *problem* is an opposing party who refuses to oppose, and a media who refuses to vet the candidates equally.

I don't totally agree. H. L. Mencken once said "In a sense every election is an advance auction of stolen goods." I believe that those who have a sense of entitlement rather than a work ethic are the core of 0's support. His voters' primary emotion (when voting) is ENVY. Rather that work to raise the lot, they whine and moan about how the "rich" ie anyone who isn't on the dole, are keeping them down and the vile turd in the white house reenforces that thought.

We fought the redcoats to get free of their tyrannical king and get our freedom, then defended them from hitler, and we owe our freedom to England?

The article says "British heritage" (Christian cultural values, basic legal concepts etc.) not "England".

***Churchill was in one of the last great calvary charges in that battle. ***

And he was smart enough to NOT use a sabre, but a Mauser automatic pistol.

Statism is the scourge of all free men.

Statism is the religion of the man currently inhabiting the White House.

3 ... All kidding aside, "The River War" is an excellent book on the Sudan punitive expedition and the battle of Omdurman. As a calvaryman, Churchill was in one of the last great calvary charges in that battle.

A recent book about Churchill, Churchill's First War contained much info, including a lot of his letters and newspaper articles, about his 1st combat experiences against the Pashtuns in the Hindu Kush. Some ol' same ol', "there is nothing new under the sun" regarding Islam.

25 And he was smart enough to NOT use a sabre, but a Mauser automatic pistol.

Partly due to a polo injury in which he dislocated his shoulder. While on his 1st punitive expedition in the Hindu Kush, ~ 1897, he had to strap his arm to his torso so that he could ride his horse. He suffered from the effects of that injury the rest of his life.

Yes, what many people may not realize is that the British Empire's India consisted of modern day Pakistan. When people like Churchill and others talk about fighting on the northwest frontier, they talk of Pakistan. As you say, same ole, same ole...

Kipling gives good advice to the British soldier on what to do when looking at capture by the Afghani muzzies....

When you're wounded and left on Afghanistan's plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Jest roll to your rifle and blow out your brains
An' go to your Gawd like a soldier.
Go, go, go like a soldier,
Go, go, go like a soldier,
Go, go, go like a soldier,
So-oldier of the Queen!

Even back then, expect no quarter from the muzzies, same ole, same ole....
