Runaway Country: Why Is Washington (Obama) So Bad at Crisis Management?
NBC News ^ | July 8, 2014 | Chuck Todd

Posted on 07/08/2014 7:26:12 AM PDT by Rennes Templar

Another week, another crisis for the Obama White House -- this time all the Central American children who have crossed into the country. Today, the White House is formally asking Congress for about $2 billion for immigration judges, attorneys, and asylum officials. But what we find striking is that this is yet another event controlling the White House rather than the other way around.

Here is the formula, which we also saw recently with the crisis in Ukraine, the crisis at the VA, and the new crisis in Iraq: A conflict or public-policy problem gets a tremendous amount of media attention. Congress and the political opposition begin pointing fingers at the White House. And then the White House -- after hedging, hemming and hawing -- finally reacts.

This was especially true after DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson dodged the question Sunday on “Meet the Press” whether the children would be deported, and then a day later when White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest answered affirmatively that they would be deported.

In short, the White House is always reacting and rarely gets ahead of a problem. Their response is usually the same: We didn’t see this coming; it’s much worse than we anticipated, all leaving the impression that they just don’t have their arms around the government they run.

The question is whether this is the new normal in this age of polarization and speedy news cycles, or if this is unique to Obama’s presidency?

Hey, Chuck. This isn't "crisis management". It's called "a plan"...

...and it is working like a charm!

Obama doesn’t care. He has no interest in being president. He just wants to be a celebrity.

Hillary, and most of the 535 princes and princesses in Congress, want the perqs of office without the responsibility that goes with it.

The real leaders of this country are stuck in Afghanistan and other $hitholes around the world.

Precisely! Theyre not solvers but generators. The solution is just the gateway to the next crisis.

Why is Obama so bad at crisis management? Ah, he wants the crisis. Fixing the crisis defeats the purpose.

Simple, if you have the courage to believe the truth.

He IS a walking crisis in and of himself.
He is NOT one of us.

The White House has surreptitiously created the border crisis by making public policy pronouncements about which immigration laws it would enforce (and which it wouldn’t). They ‘own’ this particular round of border problems.

Oh it was more than that; they more than own it. After Fast & Furious you think they didn't pull a few strings with the Sinaloa Cartel to get those kids delivered on time to force an "immigration reform" bill? This is all so orchestrated it isn't even funny.

Why Is Washington (Obama) So Bad at Crisis Management?

Asking this question is like asking why pyromaniacs are so bad at putting out forest fires.

“I often wonder what the reaction would have been if Hurricane Katrina happened during the Obama administration.”

Well, we can look at the massive floods, massive fires over the last 6 years that destroyed more than Katrina did. What did Obama and the media do?

IIRC for the flooding nothing. But for the fires down in Texas the administration cut funding for the fire suppressant air fleet. Please correct me if I am wrong on this.

I remember at the time of the Texas fires, that Obama said the governor of a state on fire denies global warming. That to me was such an absurd heartless comment.

They do not care about the ends. They never let a crisis go to waste. Each crisis just gives them an opportunity to employ their means. And the means are all that matter.

And in the case of the border insurgency, the White House created the problem in the first place. So they are so addicted to bubbles and crisis that they now create the problems they will never solve.

Create a crisis and then make damn sure a plan exists to exploit it.

nobama’s entire life revolves around the previous statement.

nobama doesn’t do crisis management. He does crisis planning. Pretty good at, too.

Why Is Washington (Obama) So Bad at Crisis Management?

Because A) Obama doesn't manage, and B) the people he does have manage are very bad at their jobs.

It is interesting that this report is written in the form usually reserved for hit pieces directed at conservatives. The article leads with a slam, knowing that most readers won't get past the headline and maybe the first few sentences.

Later in the article Todd is remarkably honest when he says:

Right now, the biggest roadblock to the White House request for the law to be changed is not Republicans but Democrats, who are quietly trying to pressure the White House to back off its ask on changing the 2008 law.)

Is Obama losing NBC? Or is this just positioning to help Hillary in 2016?

Obama never had ANY experience in crisis management or ANY mamnagement at all beyond his senatorial office staff, and Valerie Jarrett did that for him.

Stephen Hayes nailed it on the Fox All-Stars last night.

Because voting “present” 129 times really DOES mean that he can not make decisions.

He really believes that if he keeps doing what has brought him this far he will be made the affirmative action dictator of the world.
