Shortly after Costco announced that it was removing Dinesh D'Souza's book, "America: Imagine A World Without Her," from its stores, it soared to #1 on Amazon.Com. Meanwhile, Costco has been licking its wounds from all the angry reactions it has received and has raised the white flag of surrender by announcing that it will be restocking that book at its stores. So not only has the Costco attempt to yank D'Souza's book utterly failed but it has also hurt its reputation with its customers as you can see in the many reviews at Amazon which slammed Costco:

What kind of punishment did they get? They were just hounded into making a profit.
Know who I LOVE? Obama..!
I'm a WORLD-CLASS Fellow Traveler..!!
They lost me as a steady customer.
Costco reps were in the company cafeteria today seeking sign ups at corporate rates.
Told them to kiss my large, white behind.
Costco was reminded that it’s in business to serve its customers, not the personal interests of an apparently partisan CEO. This is economics.
I’d figure why not let the market reward or punish it, if I was such a devout capitalist.
Well, it’s capitalism that affected this outcome, no?
apparently , under the weight of tremendous membership hew and cry , CostCo has decided to rescind its pull order and will be buying more copies ...
Sam's Club is about the same. I think I'll take my business over there.
“They lost me as a steady customer.”
We have both Costco and Sams Club in the area. We will be spending at lot more time and money in Sam’s Club now that Costco has shown there true colors.
It was carpitalism. (As in people carping.)
So what's the problem?
It sounds a bit ironic coming from a crowd that likes to pun about having some cheese with someone’s whine.
So all complaining is bad?
Is that your point?
It just seemed that the conservative answer would be to let Costco punish itself, and then issue some well chosen bons mots when it does.
Wonder where Hillary’s book is placed and whether CostCo has pulled it for the same reason.
Hey Costco, did you really send those books back or did you burn them in the parking lot?
I bought my copy from Amazon. Costco and its’ former boss can go suck an egg.
I’m going to Costco and buy the book once they restock the shelves
Meanwhile, Hillary's ghostwriter's book Hard (and boring) Choices is listed at #88 and continuing to drop like a brick.
Good! That one day boycott was rough.
The best conservative approach?
Three simple points.
Spend my money elsewhere.
Tell Costco, why.
Tell others, why.
Hillary’s book is ranked at 16 on Amazon and the reviews are awful...
And yes, it is still in Costco stores.
Pulling the book was purely political and then they lied about it!
>> It was carpitalism
Apparently effective carping...
I’m sure this naive experiment by Costco’s CEO came at cost without garnering any new business.
Waitress, cold we get a couple of orders of schadenfreude over here? Better make ‘em a large.
I hope anyone who actually shops at Costco takes this opportunity to stop doing so. Screw them and their transparently phony excuses.
I heard it was ranked 70 someplace. But CostCo got caught in a manly situation with Hillary’s book still in their stores. It’s going to be interesting to read about their back peddling ...
So did I.
I bought the Kindle ebook version. At the same time, I bought the Audible audio book version. When you buy a Kindle version you can buy the Audible version for only a couple of dollars more. It is great for listening when you drive.
If you buy a conservative book at a brick & mortar store it will somehow never make it onto the New York Slimes best sellers list. If you buy it at Amazon it will be included in the Amazon best sellers list.
My read is that they have a rigid process algorithm there with only a minimal number of buyers making guesstimates in the loop. If the up and coming book doesn’t hit the best seller list soon enough, then it gets remaindered. And it can make stupid decisions like this, I mean stupid even from a gross sales viewpoint.
They’re a super bulk bargain house. If you want a gross of toilet paper rolls that’s the place to go. Individual items like books, probably less so; they probably could get out of the book business altogether and not suffer all that much.
Nope. Hillary's book is currently ranked at #92 on Amazon's list of top 100 sellering books. It was listed at #88 just a few minutes ago, but it is continuing to plummet.
At this rate, it should drop entirely off of the top 100 list within the hour.
Jerk company. They won’t be getting my money :)
Watch, Hillary is going to beg Costco to ban her book too!
Be aware that Costco is also behind the new “Boxed” app as well, basically an app for “bulk mail order crap”. Boycott is working on them, otherwise they’d be calling it a “Costco” app, let’s keep it up!
Boycott Costco permanently, something that people should have doing for years.
It will be interesting how Costco will do the shuffle step saying it was nothing to do with Hillary’s book since it’s so popular and all ...
We didn’t ‘win’. They win if this manipulation to protect their stock price succeeds.
I want their stock price to tank precipitously and then see a ceasing of the political activities of the founders and Corporate officers in general.
I personally won’t be satisfied with anything short of that at a minimum.
I could give a damn about the book; this is about PRINCIPLE.
Liberals in business...what an oxymoron.
My executive membership was actually due to be renewed this month. I sent them an E-mail explaining why this decision would make me a Sam's club member. I really do spend thousands of dollars at Costco each year both in the store and online.
We should all buy the book.
Just not from Costco.
I was shopping at Costco right after I heard about this. D’Souza’s book was nowhere in sight. Hillary’s turd had a prominent space with numerous copies. It was obvious.
You don’t have to pay amazon a membership fee to buy from them. What’s with that fee anyway? Is it like a poll tax - functioning to keep the undesirables out of their stores? Why so few stores compared to walmart? Why don’t they locate their stores near minority neighborhoods? Don’t poor minorities deserve to be able to buy cheap wheels of Camembert and crates of smoked salmon?
Just bought it on Amazon for Kindle.
My reading list is long, but this “hide the conservative books” nonsense just burns me!
“Sam’s Club is about the same. I think I’ll take my business over there.”
I have membership at both. Costco gives out a lot more food samples. It is the only time I get to have BACON!
The last I looked around 6 PM, the Costco Facebook page had well over 12,000 comments on just ONE of its posts— the one announcing its book section with great selections. Uh Huh. All, but about 5 lefties calling people names like “wingnut” and “teabagger”, were not happy with this “business” decision. The canned responses from “Karen” the Costco rep did not help matters. Most FB posters said they were canceling their memberships.
I only wish I had a membership to cancel...
I feel I am always late to the party darn it!
Never ever fails, I have yet to see a lefty/commie that didn’t look like some smug ahole.
I can pick out in a crowd, it’s so dang easy.
I know, right?
They really shot themselves in the foot with this one. The FB feed was fun to read. Especially with the 5 little trolls jumping up and down parroting, “Hobby Lobby! *squawaaaaaaak* Hobby Lobby!”
They are so predictable.
Facts: As of this moment....Dinesh D’Souza’s book, “America” is the #1 bestseller on Amazon.com.......Hillary Clinton’s book, “Hard Choices” is the #97 best seller on Amazon.com!!! That tells the entire story!!!
Americans, Freepers get out to the movies this week and catch the D’Souza flick...”America”!!! Magnificent movie...that every Ameerican should see!!! Do it!!!
