Iowa Dem candidate, attorney slammed for appearing to claim he’s a farmer
Fox News ^ | 7/8/2014

Republicans are seizing on a video that appears to show Iowa Democratic Senate candidate Bruce Braley claiming to be a farmer -- even though he's an attorney and U.S. congressman.

The web video was flagged by the conservative America Rising PAC, and later by The Des Moines Register. It comes after the same candidate got in a bit of trouble earlier this year for making remarks seen as disparaging to farmers.

In the latest video, Braley is seen walking along an Independence Day parade route when he approaches two kids and gives one a high-five.

Someone can be heard saying: "We're farmers."

"So am I," Braley answers.

A woman then can be heard saying: "So is Grassley," in a reference to Iowa Republican Sen. Charles Grassley.

The audio is difficult to hear, but according to the Register, Braley answers again: "So am I."

Within hours, the video was being circulated Monday by Republican groups.

"Bruce Braley continues to offend farmers, this time actually brazenly (and falsely) claiming to be one of them," National Republican Senatorial Committee Press Secretary Brook Hougesen said in a statement.

The Des Moines Register reports that Braley is not an "active farmer," and does not own farm land or earn farm income.

But campaign spokesman Jeff Giertz told FoxNews.com in an email that the Democratic nominee simply misheard the comment at the parade. The campaign claimed Braley thought the person said: "We're for farmers," to which Braley said: "So am I."

I was recently in Iowa and saw some of Braley’s TV ads. I thought his most idiotic ad was one that tried to link his opponent Joni Earnst with the Koch brothers and Sarah Palin. If the best he can do is claim his opponent is somehow linked to liberal boogie men shows total desperation.

Lawyers who run for RAT office are not the top of the class, mostly silver spooned.
The really good liars are making millions a year and have 23 year old trophy wives at 50.

How do we change this?

It seems to me the media is the biggest problem.

I bought the talking points when I was younger and busy raising my kids.

I didn’t pay much attention other than what I heard come out of my TV and on CNN.

When listening to CNN, the dems did sound better, more caring of the little guy.

I would say Pelosi and Palin made the biggest difference for me.

Turned me arse right around.... bigtime.

Pelosi is batchit crazy and r-tard, Palin was fresh air.

Obama, Reid and Pelosi...democrats REALLY lost it with this bunch.

People DO wake up.

YES, I AM A farmer!

I spread BS and plowed lots of furrows, sowing wild oats.

I do pickling regularly, while discussing ethanol policy.

I carefully plant seeds, and watch the green grow therefrom.

My fields now are the Hallowed Halls of our beloved Capital; my pasture is the rich and verdant Iowa countryside...I may have a law degree, and devote myself to Public Service, but I am no less a farmer for it; I dream of the day I can retire to a smallholding, and live a modest, locally sustainable organic homesteading life! In the meantime (heavy sigh) I must forgo in the Public Interest, and sacrifice by again asking you, my fellow Farmers, for your votes....

It’s really funny, I didn’t know who I was until I found Free Republic and it was my son who showed me this site.

He doesn’t post here but he knew before I did that this is the place that lives the way we agree with.

I guess even my mother knew when I didn’t. I had declared myself democrat and we fought, she even at one point told me I needed to move to France. ( she calls herself ultra conservative) She called me a blue dog...I didn’t even know what that meant.

I don’t always rah-rah for Palin but she was my turning point, she opened my eyes and it has been wonderful to find Mark Levin and so many others that have opened my eyes.

I never liked baby Bush and I still don’t, I can’t get over that one—I don’t like any of the Bush family on a political level.

Don’t give up on the young ones, it was my son who showed me the light. It will be the young ones who stop the madness.

Time and thought changes us. Things that I thought yesterday were fairytales and failures.

Bruce Braley is cultivating the population for a crop-votes. He works hard spreading horse manure, BS and other beneficial items to increase his yield. And remember: As a lawyer you get to define words to your own meaning. So based upon his definition of a farmer, he is telling the truth!

As the editor of the Albia (Iowa) newspaper put it, Braley is a “condescending, elitist turd.”

An exact quote.

“Someone can be heard saying: “We're farmers.” ...”So am I,” Braley answers.”.....

And so are illegal pot growers, gubmint subsidized wool growers, etc. etc. and so on.
