Megyn Kelly Takes on Former NOW President Over Attack on Little Sisters of the Poor(a home run)
Town Hall ^ | July 09, 2014 | Katie Pavlich

In case you missed it earlier this week, the National Organization for Women [NOW] put the Little Sisters of the Poor on their "Dirty 100" list. The list is a compilation of organizations and groups that have filed suit against the contraception mandate in Obamacare and claims the Little Sisters of the Poor is forcing their religion onto employees by objecting to the mandate on religious grounds.

The Catholic nuns of The Little Sisters of the Poor dedicate their lives to helping the sick and people who are dying. From their website:

Continuing the work of Saint Jeanne Jugan, our MISSION is to offer the neediest elderly of every race and religion a home where they will be welcomed as Christ, cared for as family and accompanied with dignity until God calls them to himself.

Our VISION is to contribute to the Culture of Life by nurturing communities where each person is valued, the solidarity of the human family and the wisdom of age are celebrated, and the compassionate love of Christ is shared with all.??

Our VALUES? REVERENCE for the sacredness of human life and for the uniqueness of ?each person, especially those who are poorest and/or weakest. This is ?reflected in care that is holistic and person-centered.

Last night on The Kelly File, Megyn Kelly took on former NOW President Patricia Ireland over their inclusion of the Little Sisters in their "Dirty 100" list. Ireland is the same woman who is clueless about the fact Hobby Lobby offers employees 16 different forms of contraception.

Here's a thought for Ms. Ireland, who argues the Little Sisters of the Poor should simply "opt-out." If women want contraception coverage, they have the option of opting out of jobs that do not provide what they are looking for.

The bottom line is NOW isn't interested in defending the rights of women, they're interested in defending big government policies. Last time I checked nuns were women too, but for some reason the National Organization for Women isn't interested in defending their right to freedom of religion, but is interested in defining women by the pills they take. It's a shame NOW supports the heavy hand of government forcing women to do things that are against their beliefs.

Which one would you date? Looks like Ireland could well be the “poster child” for abortion by reason of consumate ugliness.

These good women, who provide care for the elderly poor, say they would leave the country before they would cooperate in any way with contracepting, sterilizing, aborting, or any other anti-life activity.

The eye-opening thing is that this particular religious congregation --- the Little Sisters of the Poor --- has been forced to leave numerous countries, including China and Myanmar, because of religious intolerance. NOW wants the USA to be added to this list.

If NOW gave a crap about women, they’d be up in arms about the way Muslims treat their women

Correct. And they also would have nailed Clinton to the wall and demanded removal from office for how he abused women for years.

Rampant hypocrisy.

Because we are not. I am not paying for it and my employer was long before Obamacare.

You are not paying for it because you are not the employer. The question is precisely why should an owner of a business - with a moral objection - pay for the woman's contraceptive choices.

Ireland dodged, and Kelly did not pursue aggressively; and her cutesy act notwithstanding, she lost. Some of Kelly's minor points about putting the nuns on the 'dirty' list did not save Kelly from this reality.

But here's the thing.

Back in 2012 when a number of GOP fools prompted by Rush-bo blundered into the birth control ambush it was a slaughter. it only helped the baby-killers kill more babies.

Suddenly the GOP is running against birth control.
I immediately saw that ship hitting the ice-berg.

Now this is a fight that can be won, with the Little Sisters on our side, or vice versa.
Kelly was an perfect example of that.

It was the abortionist Ireland who walked into the ambush this time and took the beating, and it was a pleasure to watch.

But I swear there are some here only happy when they lose on the issue. I see it every-so often.

I am not talking about GOP strategy - I am talking about an interview. It was clearly a question Kelly was thinking of - she asked it! A couple times! But she let Ireland talk over it. It was a perfect "teaching" moment to those low information voters to be instructed on what is really going on with this issue.

So, I don't give Kelly the credit to think she was leading Ireland into ambush. She had conceded arguendo the right of the woman to decide; setting up Ireland to specifically address the real issue - why should someone else fund it. She had Ireland in her sights - dead on; and she blew it.

As to 2012; tactics is always one thing, and certainly one can speak to ones strengths amongst the wider electorate; but if Republicans are not going to ultimately be about principle, then the Republicans be damned.

I, as one conservative at least, do not want a government which feels it has the power to compel one to act against one's conscience on such a fundamental issue.

It is absurd to blame Rush. The democrats will always raise the 'war on women' thing; the 'race card', etc. They don't need Rush, you, or me or whoever to do that. It is what they do, and who they are. What is needed is a honest public debate to begin dispelling the lies and distortions. We had a chance at that last night - and Kelly blew it. This is not Rush's fault.

Megyn’s rightful focus was to shine a light, from which the goblin queen of the NAGs surely wanted to escape, on how she and her minions could possible justify including these kind-hearted nuns in their list of the “dirty 100”. Any other topic, like the one you raise, would not only be a distraction, but also a welcome one, as Her Ugliness would surely prefer to move to a topic on which the country is more evenly divided.

Megyn’s job was to stick to the Dirty 100 topic, since once explained, that is a “choice” that NOW made that very few will support.

And Megyn did a GREAT job.

Not just Rush, Akin and a couple others.
They dont ‘use the WOW against Republicans who don't let them, like they cant use it against Kelly. She owned the segment and the issue. They only use it against the dumb ones.

A number of months back the MSM was trying to trap Marsha Blackburn on a house bill that banned abortion but had a rape exception only if they filed a police report.

The libs were all upset about that bill and even More-so when Blackburn replied to a question about it with “We need to track down all these rapists”.

It was a home run and yet a whiner here pings my thread whining about that bill, 'There should be no exception of BABLABLA'.

Some just want to lose.

What I despise among conservatives, and many here; is the seeming glee over attacking conservatives out there because they don’t believe as perfectly as we do.
I’ve seen plenty of people go after Megyn Kelly, but I think she is doing a great job!

There's always a few playing that tune here. They seem to love losing to Dems.

Way back when GWB was president I joined a liberal site that had similarities to FR (in design) with the single goal of having fun causing havoc.

So I played uber liberal attacking the elected Dems as traitors and cowards and suggesting that ‘we’ Dems boycott elections to send a message.

It was a blast.

My friends on this ping will hopefully agree that I above others here could pull it off. They seen me satire lib points.

Know your enemy.

Kelly is not a radio talk show host doing the zealot act,
she is appealing to a wider audience than the above 50 white crowd that listens loyally to ‘conservative’ talk radio .

They are only speaking to the choir, the long time converted.

Kelly goes beyond that. She goes for the strong convincing arguments on situations that she chooses to lure in others on our side.

She is no ‘conservative’ messiah. \
But she is FNC’s diamond. The best thing they did was give her that 9pm time slot.

FNC saw talent in her and groomed her with two of her own daytime shows before the big prime-time, over 6 to 8 years. She was a business lawyer before FNC picked her up.

I liked her from the start. She is their star.

I am re-watching this Kelly vid on my TV.

As NOW’s Pat Ireland tries to answer Kelly’s questions on NOW’s demonization of the Little Sisters of the Poor, FNC puts a video box to the right of them flipping pictures of the little sisters helping the elderly.

Pat Ireland must be wincing as she tries to watch this vid, I would be and unlike many here I not hesitant to point out when Republicans are losing an argument.

My goodness, this is a slaughter.(of the libs)

We need Megyn babe on our side!

It’s about learning to beat the Dems at their demagoguery game.

They’re good at it; our side needs to be better.

Your example about Megyn Kelly not letting Ireland own the issue is exactly the point.

Same with Blackburn.

Win the fight you can win NOW, and plan for the future fight while the enemy is reeling on the ropes.
