While the nations spotlight is on the thousands of children illegally entering the United States, Littlefield has been tapped to potentially house the growing number of immigrant detainees.
Thousands of undocumented children are being crammed into Texas military bases for processing while the government searches for a more permanent solution. The Bill Clayton Detention Center may be it.
The West Texas town officials have been in talks with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for about two years and touched base with the federal department last week, Littlefield City Manager Mike Arismendez said.
Weve been in communication with them about the possibility of detaining illegal immigrants in our facility, he said.

Are there no Ritz-Carltons, Embassy Suites, Holiday Inn Expresses or Homewood Suites? It’s for the children, after all.

I read somewhere that its costing $242/ day for each of these kids. So yeah the holiday Inn is in the budget.
All those (except for the Ritz) would fit into that budget I believe.

Just called to hound my representative for the Lubbock area again and one of his assistants directed me to the following update that he has put out the following press release that he does not support using the Littlefield facility. She told me to tell those in the area that he hears us!
