Poll: Brown trails by double digits (NH)

New Hampshire Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen has a 12-percentage-point lead over Republican challenger Scott Brown, according to a new poll.

The WMUR Granite State/University of New Hampshire poll released Wednesday evening shows Shaheen tops Brown 52 percent to 40 percent. In April, she led Brown by 6 percentage points.

Within minutes of the poll’s release, the Brown campaign sent out a memo downplaying the findings and outlining the Republican’s strategy: “Consolidate the Republican base and split the independent vote.”

The campaign said polls won’t mean much until Republicans choose their nominee on Sept. 9. “In 2014, the Senate race in New Hampshire won’t really begin until the day after the September 9 primary,” the Brown memo said. “That’s when Republicans across the state will rally behind their nominee to defeat Jeanne Shaheen.”

Brown, a former Massachusetts senator and Fox News contributor, is widely expected to win the primary.

The WMUR poll found strong numbers for Shaheen, with 57 percent of respondents saying they have a favorable opinion of her, compared with 29 percent who have an unfavorable opinion. While Brown’s favorability numbers have improved 2 points since April, he still has a 40 percent unfavorability rating, contrasted with a 31 percent favorability rating.

Exactly to my point, the ultimate apology candidate. Sure, violence against women is horrid and should be opposed. But the real question that the apology candidates never ever ask is whether that is and issue in the campaign at all. The mere fact that he had to run an advertisement on it indicates that he accepted the premise of his opponent that he was for violence against women. Instead, he needed to stick to message and be on the offensive.

How did a Masshole get on a New Hampshire ballot? What were they thinking? Scott Brown? What a loser.

I sent him money when he ran against Coakley. Then he went full throttle on that piece of perversion known as Dodd-Frank.

I vowed to never send him a dime after that. What a chump.

Hey, here is an idea, Scott: BE CONSERVATIVE.

Observed this when we lived in CT and watch Romney debate Ted Kennedy. His entire campaign was that he could "out-liberal" Ted Kennedy.

e.g. ""I am not unaware of my opponent’s considerable record in the area of civil rights, or the commitment of Massachusetts voters to the principle of equality for all Americans. For some voters it might be enough for me to simply match my opponent’s record in this area. But I believe we can and must do better. If we are to achieve the goals we share, we must make equality for gays and lesbians a mainstream concern. My opponent cannot do this. I can and will.""

“Carpetbaggers don’t win.”

You're right, just ask “born and bred New Hampshire” Jeanne Shaheen. What's that, she's from Missouri? Bullshit, carpetbaggers don't win!

“Carpetbaggers don’t win.”

No kidding. That would be like a fake Indian from Oklahoma winning a US Senate seat in Massachusetts! It’ll never happen!
