It is simply very difficult to feel sorry for someone who makes a routine practice of random rocket attacks on anyone who happens to be downrange and then figures his victims are required to adhere to some sort of measured response. Technically, though, the Israelis are showing considerable restraint: they're doing precise targeting, a thing Hamas doesn't bother with.
Hamas must have been feeling like a wallflower lately, being the only Islamic terrorist group not involved in a bloody war of some kind in the Middle East.
But once Hamas’s rockets starting reaching Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, Bibi Netanyahu had no choice but to declare No more Mr. Nice Guy, and go after Hamas with everything the IDF has.
Mr. Assad of Syria and Mr. Maliki of Iraq are painful examples of what happens when leaders fail to take strong immediate action against terrorist organizations that suddenly decide to rebel against them. Hamas must be finished off.
Bibi Netanyahu should not waste a minute talking with Barack Obama, Hamas’s supporter, about negotiating a cease fire with Hamas. Instead, he should devote every minute to getting rid of every one of Hamas’s leaders so there won’t be anyone left for Israel to negotiate with.
Get the job done this time, Israel! If you keep leaving the enemy alive, it only regroups and rearms and relaunches attacks against you again
