That amount could be for more than one child, like siblings. Or it could be to take care of a kid who has been (or will be) diagnosed on the aspergers/autism spectrum. And I bet many of them will...

The government actually pays parents to take care of their own child now if the kid is aspergers/autistic. My sister in law and a friends sister are both getting a couple grand a month to take care of their own kid.
