On July 16, comic character Archie Andrews, of Life With Archie, will die after being shot while protecting gay friend Kevin Keller.
Keller is "Archie Comics' first openly gay character."

Indeed...my dad, who recently passed, attended Haverhill MA High School in the late 30s. So apparently did Bob Montana, Archie’s creator, who based Riverdale on Haverhill High (and the local paper up there bills it at Haverhill’s Archie)

Soooo, since Archie gets shot. Are we to assume he was in Chicago defending his gay friend? Also, does this mean the publishers of the comic are trying to say that defending gay friends is a bad idea that will get you shot?
At any rate, RIP Archie, I hardly knew you. Which is because I didn’t spend my time reading comics and filling my head full of mush. But if I had, rest assured it would not have been on obscure crapola like Archie. Now, if you really wanted your death to have meant something, you would have kicked off while swimming the Rio Grande to rescue a gay, immigrant toddler from a gun toting militia person. I mean come on, taking a bullet for a gay dude is soooooo yesterday. Yawn. I know, maybe Archie Zombie can come back and eat a white, straight, Obama hating, gun toting border agent that happens to be a member of the Klan and, of course, a family member of Ted Cruz. Now that would be art!!!
So much for Archie’s embrace of the homosexualist lifestyle. Death any way you shake it.
If the publisher REALLY wanted to reflect the quandary of people who “love each other", they would be publishing a pro-polygamy story where Archie marries BOTH Betty and Veronica.
