Report: Unaccompanied Minors Coming to U.S. For Amnesty, Not Fleeing Violence

Fox News' Catherine Herridge is out with fresh reporting showing that thousands of unaccompanied illegal minors crossed the southern border with Mexico under the impression that if they made it to the United States they'd be able to stay, not because they're fleeing violence in their home countries. Further, new statistics show crime in Central America is actually down, not up.

A new intelligence assessment concludes that misperceptions about U.S. immigration policy – and not Central American violence – are fueling the surge of thousands of children illegally crossing the Mexican border.

The 10-page July 7 report was issued by the El Paso Intelligence Center (EPIC), which according to the Justice Department website is led by the DEA and incorporates Homeland Security. Its focus is on the collection and distribution of tactical intelligence, information which can immediately be acted on by law enforcement.

"Of the 230 migrants interviewed, 219 cited the primary reason for migrating to the United States was the perception of U.S. immigration laws granting free passes or permisos to UAC (unaccompanied children) and adult females OTMs (other than Mexicans) traveling with minors,” the report said.

Fear of violence in home country really behind border surge? What's motivating crossings?

Many on the left have called for thousands of illegal children to be classified as refugees, this report strongly refutes that classification. The Obama administration has blamed the crisis on violence in Central America for the surge, which this report also blows out of the water.

It is predicted nearly 200,000 unaccompanied minors will enter the United States next year. Democrat Senator Henry Cuellar and Republican Senator John Cornyn are working on legislation that could allow for faster deportations of unaccompanied minors.

If there is any violence in Central America, how come the news are not reporting it?

I reported on another thread all the expat blogs and news info in Central America did not support violence increased in their countries, although there has been gangs and violence all along. I even gave blog websites for verification that no comments on violence increasing were shown in last year.

This is because this Admin is overloading the system, and the Dream Amnesty was even written up in Central American newspapers to attract these illegal migrants.

HHS had members in these countries to help get these people on those trains...I don’t believe these families paid $5-8 thousand dollars to vendors/coyotes to get these children here...this was the work of HHS and the vendors they hired via the ads we discussed on FR. IMHO.

The ‘violence angle by the Administration’ has to do with ‘refugee status’ so the UN will get involved....look at the whole picture of Obama plan.

The media is having a hard time propping up the lies coming from the Obama Administration.

The lies are so totally contrary to reality that even the most capable spin doctor cannot make it work.

This is somewhat straw-man...

Doesn’t matter what they were coming here for, amnesty or violence, as much as who crossed the border a mile away.

We’re hearing about coyotes marching a group of kids directly into the hands of a border patrol to get them busy with paperwork, diapers and the like... all the while, sending the groups of hard core, M13, islamists to just trek over without any border patrol opposition a mile away.

Yeah, they’re fleeing violence....and the Benghazi fiasco was over a video on you tube....and the IRS emails disappeared because the hard drives crashed...yeah... that’s it-that’s the ticket.

If I was POTUS...I would tell Mexico to stop ALL the illegal border crossings, otherwise a fence WOULD be constructed well south of the river!

A one mile or so buffer zone, devoid of trees/brush with a double fence and road running the full length.

That would stop both the illegals and the drugs coming across. Mexico would lose all their water rights in that deal. That might get their attention.

The federal govt already owns a swath north of the border, plenty for a double or triple fence like the one that stopped border crossing cold in the San Diego sector. It could be built all the way to the Gulf of Mexico in under a year. They don’t want to control the border.

“The federal govt already owns a swath north of the border,..”

A fence north of the border would cost some American farmers their water access. Better to put it on the south side, screw Mexico.

He hasn’t fooled anyone, and especially not the black community. The question is is this a tipping point for blacks to finally start turning away from the democrat plantation bosses en masse.
