Gov. Jerry Brown has signed a gun control measure eliminating an exemption for certain semiautomatic pistols from Californias unsafe handgun law, Browns office announced Friday.
Assembly Bill 1964, by Assemblyman Roger Dickinson, D-Sacramento, is designed to limit the exemption for single-shot pistols from the states unsafe handgun roster, excluding semiautomatic pistols altered to not fire in semiautomatic mode.
:snip:
The measure was one of 15 bills Brown announced signing Friday. In another gun measure, Brown signed legislation requiring local courts to notify the Department of Justice more quickly when actions are taken that would result in a person being prohibited from owning guns, such as being found mentally incompetent to stand trial.
Assembly Bill 1591, by Assemblyman Katcho Achadjian, R-San Luis Obispo, shortens from two court days to one the time in which courts must make such a notification.

Excellent - The State dictates what you can and cannot buy.
Sorta like Mommy when we were kids.
The guy that ran the sporting goods department was a gun enthusiast and he knew all about the weapons. He sold me a Swedish Mauser with all matching serial numbers. When the shipment came in he had set it aside from the others because of it's condition. I was there once and I guess he decided he was not going to purchase it for himself so he asked me if I wanted it. I think it was $69.95 and I still have it. Very nice guy who always remembered his customers.
Those days will never come back.
The “not legal in the state of California” disclaimer applies to almost anything you buy. It’s like “looking for the union label”. I buy the not legal in California products whenever I can (they tend to outlaw the products that actually work).
Something affixed over the mag well? Magazines rigged to accept only one round?...This is crazy talk.

Revolvers are semi-automatic; each trigger pull = one shot. How do they propose to make revolvers ‘single-shot’ guns?
In my eighth grade metal shop, several guys made zip guns. Some fired .22 shorts and other used high-powered firecrackers to fire ball bearings or marbles. Each was a ‘single-shot’ weapon, until reloaded.
I hope California becomes just like Chicago, a “gun free” state. Then watch their crime rate escalate out of control worse than it already is. They deserve it!
Multiculturalism at work here.
Making the streets safer for illegal alien gangs.
I showed that list to my Wife last night. She couldn’t believe it.
We have exactly ZERO guns that are, “California Safe.”
And to think, back in 1982, the voters of California defeated Prop 15 to ban the sale of handguns in that state.
Since that day the politicians have been finding ways around the will of the people one nibble at a time.
T Rex was running wild in the streets when things were that good :-)

Those things suck so bad that space is a vacuum because of them. I HATE THEM!
I just found at Tractor Supply (bless them) a replacement spout and vent combo to replace the ridiculous "vent in the spout" self-sealing crud that is all you can buy nowadays. Just replace the OEM spout, drill a 1/2-inch hole in the top rear of the gas can, and pop in the vent. I'm just surprised it took so long for someone to market something like that. (Of course it is sold for "water jugs", *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge*...)
Calipoliticians suck moose *$#*&@(*&^

Actually, thanks to SSE, so do we, except for the AR which has a “bullet button” mag release.
The other thing that’s inane, is the rules for the ten day waiting period for a handgun. It is ten days “to the minute.” Owing to the paperwork signing for each of the last two guns, We could pick up one at 1:31 p.m and the other I had to wait until 1:37! Our legislature is made up of: 1. ineffective and powerless RINOs, 2. Dumb Mexicans, 3. white loony liberals, 4. a few token Black morons. and 5. a small cadre of San Francisco-based queers.
I'm with you. I bought a couple of those spout/vent kits already. However, even those are illegal in Ohio (we have a Tractor Supply in town, they don't sell them), and I had to mail order them.
While the gas can thing may have started with CA Nazis, it's the federal Nazis that have forced this thing on the whole nation (law was passed before Obama even took office).
