First Kiwi lesbian “marriage” over already?

New Zealand’s first same-sex “marriage” is shaping up to become the country’s first same-sex divorce. Less than a year since they became the poster girls for the country’s new legal definition of marriage (last August) the NZ Herald reports that Melissa Ray, a former Ferns football player, and Natasha Vitali, a sales rep, are “believed to have split”.

The main source of the story appears to be Ms Vitali’s Facebook page on which the following poem appeared yesterday:

Drink it down, laugh it off, Avoid the drama, take chances, And never have regrets Because at one point everything you did Was exactly what you wanted.

When the Herald contacted her Ms Vitali said: "It's not anyone's business, we'll just leave it at that, but thank you for calling.” And, “I'm not talking to you about my private life, we got enough coverage when we got married."

It is well known that female partnerships break up more often than male – twice as much, according to a Scandinavian study cited by Jason Richwine in a recent National Review post...

You can only play ‘make believe’ so long before it gets boring.

I suspect once the thrill of controversy is over, gay marriages will be rare.

All these people who support “gay” marriage always talk about happiness. That’s the best reason they can conjure for allowing such nonsense.

Thomas Aquinas did also but, of course, not in this regard.

Happiness is the one thing that people can agree on. They all want as much of it as they can get. The issue is what happiness consists of. A lot can be said about a person based on what they choose as their ultimate happiness.

Thomas' conclusion was that human happiness consists in God alone and that those who pursue other things for their ultimate happiness find their ultimate disappointment.

Since you are a self proclaimed "conservative in training", I invite you to read the Summa Theologia, the first part of the second part, question 2 in its entirety. It is available free on line. Don't be put off by the style of the "disputed question", it's how science was done in the middle ages.

I’ll look into it. :)

I should clarify, though. Being happy is great. Forcing others to change their lives entirely in order to gratify your twisted sense of happiness is not all right. There is no logical reason to change marriage to suit 1-2% of the population. It will not add anything to society but chaos.

Same sex marriage gives the illusion of marriage without really being married. Marriage is still a man and a woman.

I’ll never understand it....If you’re going to be with a chick who looks like a guy, why not just go for the real thing?

Women are hard to live with and that must be especially true of two women.

Like slapping two hemispheres of Plutonium together.
