If you like your AK-47, you can keep your AK-47

If you like your AK-47, you can keep your AK-47. That’s the message from the U.S. Treasury Department to U.S. gun owners.

Despite slapping sanctions on the famed assault-rifle maker Kalashnikov last week, along with other Russian defense companies, in response to suspected Russian involvement in the shoot-down of the Malaysian jetliner over the Ukraine, the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) says U.S. owners of the weapons can still own them and resell them at gun shows so long as they don’t owe the parent company any money.

It won’t be long before they try. Probably a false-flag event utilizing full-auto AKs.

Well, you know, eventually they will come after everything. Right down to your stew-pot gun.

“I guess my Bulgarian is OK then...”

You don’t need their permission in the first place.

And some Arsenal (Bulgarian) rifles are made on Saiga receivers (the part the ATF considers the rifle) and could be considered Russian.

I’m more sad about the VEPRs. They are great rifles.

I wish I owned an AK-47. All I have is a semi-auto MAK-90. Wish I had a selective fire AK-47, but know-nothing reporters aren't aware there's a difference.

That said, I feel so grateful to the Treasury Department for ruling I can keep my MAK-90...for now. I'm very glad they are the arbiters of which rights I have the right to, and which rights they have the right to dictate to me. /sarc

How about "if you like your Stoli, you can keep your Stoli".

There is no substitute for Stoli, but there is a substitute for AK-47. Check Zastava M-70, the best derivative.

Gee, awfully Mulatto of them...

Did anyone here think that Lord Obama’s proclamation about imported AK-47’s from Russia had anything to do with the Rifles already owned by American Citizens?

I certainly didn’t, so why did Treasury decide they needed to clarify this non issue? Well, we all know why. Bring it to the forefront and act like it was discussed and a “consensus” was reached. It all sounds so eerily familiar.
