Ukraine rebel commander acknowledges fighters had BUK missile

(Reuters) - A powerful Ukrainian rebel leader has confirmed that pro-Russian separatists had an anti-aircraft missile of the type Washington says was used to shoot down Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 and it could have originated in Russia.

In an interview with Reuters, Alexander Khodakovsky, commander of the Vostok Battalion, acknowledged for the first time since the airliner was brought down in eastern Ukraine on Thursday that the rebels did possess the BUK missile system and said it could have been sent back subsequently to remove proof of its presence.

Before the Malaysian plane was shot down, rebels had boasted of obtaining the BUK missiles, which can shoot down airliners at cruising height. But since the disaster the separatists' main group, the self-proclaimed People’s Republic of Donetsk, has repeatedly denied ever having possessed such weapons. ....

"I knew that a BUK came from Luhansk. At the time I was told that a BUK from Luhansk was coming under the flag of the LNR," he said, referring to the Luhansk People’s Republic, the main rebel group operating in Luhansk, one of two rebel provinces along with Donetsk, the province where the crash took place.

"That BUK I know about. I heard about it. I think they sent it back. Because I found out about it at exactly the moment that I found out that this tragedy had taken place. They probably sent it back in order to remove proof of its presence," Khodakovsky told Reuters on Tuesday. ....

While he said he could not be certain where the BUK system operating on rebel territory at the time of the air crash had come from, he said it may have come from Russia.

FTA:

Khodakovsky is a former head of the “Alpha” anti-terrorism unit of the security service in Donetsk, and one of the few major rebel commanders in Donetsk who actually hails from Ukraine rather than Russia.

There has been friction in the past between him and rebel leaders from outside the region, such as Igor Strelkov, the Muscovite who has declared himself commander of all rebel forces in Donetsk province.

Khodakovsky said his unit had never possessed BUKs, but they may have been used by rebels from other units.

Well, it won’t matter to the Putinista Freepers where it came from as long as Putin can get away with murder.

The real question is whether or not he still has them.

Just so you know, Khodakovsky is denying in Russian Media that he ever told Reuters anything about BUK’s.

The Obama USA gets us involved in the Ukraine overthrow when it needs to be involved in restoring America.

The underlying mission in our Ukrainian involvement was to stir up the region and create the USA political will to export our natural gas energy self sufficiency to Europe. That allows the energy companies to make big profits that they would not make if the natural gas was relegated to making the USA a stronger more prosperous nation.

This is about profits for energy companies and screwing Americans out of cheap energy. Believe it. (or not) It’s up to you. Our Congress is already talking up the need to supply Europe and break Russia. It’s BS. Cheap energy can bring the USA back. Giving profits to energy companies will not bring us back.

We Americans need to wake up to the fact that we citizens are the last priority of our government of both Parties.

The Putinists paraded the Buk around the town of Torez the morning of the shoot down. Apparently quite a few local witnesses according to western journos who have been there.

You’ve been listening to too much Savage. Obama has nothing to do with Putin killing over 1,000 people in Ukraine and 25,000 Russian citizens in Chechnya.

If you were invested in those big energy companies then maybe you wouldn’t feel that way.

In the coming decades the USA is going to become the biggest energy producing nation in the world, and we are going to become even more rich and more powerful than we already are by selling that energy to the whole world.

You can either get with the program and get rich by joining in with the winners, or you can whine and complain that the evil greedy corporations didn’t give you something for free.

Of course the rebels had at least one BUK launcher, that was known back on June 29th, after they over-ran the AA instalation in Donetsk.

The problem is, in all of the time since, until the shootdown, Kiev repeatedly DENIED the rebels could have anything like that. Kiev doesn’t admit war losses they can deny, since telling the truth would hurt civilian moral.

So, we end up with an airliner shot down by accident.

By byline gives my opinion. Global corporatism is the threat to our freedom and rights. They want to take our sovereignty and own our politicians too. They want more profits and above country.

There is nothing conservative about supporting globalism and corporations without loyalty to country. Their only loyalty is to the CEO bonus, and not even shareholders. They are just as likely to be owned by Chinese Commies than Americans.

They are responsible for outsourcing our jobs and economy and destroying the most powerful nation on Earth. Making the incompetent Wall St hucksters rich is not making America prosperous. It is making a select few rich and turning most of us into unarmed serfs. The cabal that leads the charge on disarming Americans resides on Wall St.

Hmmm...

So you are saying this quote "That BUK I know about. I heard about it. I think they sent it back. Because I found out about it at exactly the moment that I found out that this tragedy had taken place. They probably sent it back in order to remove proof of its presence," Khodakovsky told Reuters on Tuesday. .... is a lie?

They sent it back to whom? The Kiev Ukrainians? Sending it "back" implies it was given to them by someone--not taken.

But I'm no Rooshian expert and Putin follower... So what do I know?

Yeah it's all Ukraine's fault, not the fault of the people who actually pulled the trigger, or the fault of Russia for supporting them.

It's all Ukraine's fault for daring to actually fight the Russian terrorists that invaded their country.

Why should energy producing red states subsidize the green liberals in blue states who refuse to explore for gas and oil and who actually don’t even want cheap energy? Why the hell should I have loyalty to liberal green assholes who hate my guts? No, we should let the red states get rich selling their oil and gas to the highest bidder. Don’t expect the job creators to make less profit just so some union thugs can have a job. Nobody owes you a job. Go get a job for an oil company in red state and stop complaining.
