Plans for a team of unarmed Dutch and Australian police officers to visit the site of the Malaysia Airlines plane disaster have been cancelled.
Fighting around the site of the airliner downed in eastern Ukraine prevented the visit.
The vast crash scene, which covers 20 square miles, mostly fields, is currently controlled by pro-Russian separatists who are battling Ukrainian government forces in a months-long conflict.
A Ukrainian defence official said his troops were trying to clear the areas around the site near the village of Grabovo from rebels.
There was reportedly fighting at several locations, including near the town of Debaltseve, 15 miles north-west of the crash scene.

It appears that the only way that they will get unimpeded access to the shootdown site is when the separatists are finally driven out of Donetsk and Kiev takes control of that site.

The ones who are fighting for their freedom and the separatist. The current Ukrainian regime is doing everything they can to stop them and have no problems killing civilians to put down this revolt.

Oh good grief!....Anti-Kiev fighters are simply protecting their communities from the onslaught of Kiev’s relentless ‘air’ bombings.....of course they’ll shoot Kiev’s aircraft down. What would you expect in a civil war that has assistance from outside and inside sources on both sides?
Simply put... It’s a war!...war zone = a ‘combat’ zone where military operations are coordinated.
Oh yea, ...and isn't the first time. Rather like Israel telling Hamas all bets are off when they break a cease fire. The Separatists know Kiev's history of doing so. Also, because this crash did occur in that stronghold so close to Russia's border, and Kiev was loosing... there's more than one way to open an area....and I put nothing past Kiev or the Oligarchs with their army's in this layered conflict...they are of the same cloth ,brutal relentless fighters....it is in their nature.

Ukraines Security officials (US) jumping the gun of the MH17 Investigators....saying ‘only shrapnel’ from a missle hit the plane causing decompression...yada yada...
It’s from the BBC so I put almost zero confidence...plus it’s Ukraines officials...but they aren’t saying who they are. No doubt investigators are pee-od’......but then Ukraine is alway’s trying to move the ball anywhere but on them.

Dutch investigators leading the inquiry into the crash have ‘refused to comment’ on the Ukrainian claims. (Obviously)
The Dutch team leading the investigation into flight MH17 won’t be happy that a Ukrainian security official has ‘apparently’ jumped the gun on the black box data results. I’m told there were Ukrainian investigators in the room at the UK’s Air Accidents Investigation Branch in Farnborough last week when they checked that data, so it seems reasonable to assume this official knows something.
But still, the Dutch are hoping to publish their own more detailed and more rounded report later this week, pooling together everything they’ve learned so far.
