Glen Beck's Kindler, Gentler Exploitation of the Border Crisis
American Thinker ^ | 07/28/2014 | John Bennett

Posted on 07/28/2014 5:45:04 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

Glen Beck’s “charity” charade is neither conservative nor, in my opinion, Christian.  This nation’s charitable impulses have already been exploited beyond belief through decades’ worth of lax immigration enforcement.  The most likely outcome of Beck’s “charity” act is that it will diminish the rule of law and undermine conservative goals.

With his flippant gift-giving, Beck (and his colleagues like Dana Loesch) will make it harder for America to reduce illegal immigration, maintain our sovereignty, and restrain the welfare state.  How could teddy bears and soccer balls have such an impact?  The short answer is that giving door prizes to illegal aliens will have the unintended consequence of encouraging further illegal entry.

For starters, true Christian charity is not supposed to go along with self-promotion.  On this point, Breitbart’s John Nolte very aptly points to Matthew 6:1-4:

Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven. “So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be honored by men.”

Beck is sounding his trumpet in the most obnoxious and self-serving manner imaginable.  Proof positive: in speaking of The Blaze’s coverage of the Glen Beck's charity charade, Beck actually said, “That should be the number-one retweeted story.”  Beck has forfeited his claim to charity; he is engaged in ostensibly altruistic self-promotion.

Beck certainly does look like he is trying to be the story, the way he has interjected himself into this orchestrated nightmare.

BULLSHITE!

Beck is advocating the feeding and clothing of PAWNS being used and abused illegally by 0bama...

He has consistently been on the side of the rule of law and to SEND THEM HOME...

I guess American Thinker doesn’t actually listen do they?

Guess GB never heard of “But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing”

To use ‘humanitarian concerns’ and religious motivation to sustain and/or enlarge this border invasion is certainly anything else BUT Christian.

He should just go back to the bottle.

It has been interesting and disappointing for me to see how Dana Loesch has followed Beck’s lead on this.

I agree. While I am not in any way a lockstep beck follower, I think he is doing overall good here. Am I convinced this had to be done? No. But I think leading the way in providing proactive care (by people, not bureaucracy) is a reasonable thing to do. Beck’ mission now is clearly changed to break through the traditional left/right lines of debate and look to do things that cross that divide. He thinks the only way to alter the course in our nations decline is to think differently and bring people together who otherwise would be at odds. In that sense, this action makes perfect sense. Big picture, he sees helping these people is good and still stand for deportation back home and stronger border defense in the long run. He thinks this action is a better step to get the right actions underway as opposed to letting the left demagogue their way to open borders.

As said, I can’t say he’s right or wrong. I do think it is done for the right reasons, and I don’t think his actions in a vacuum have any impact on more or less people coming over the border in the future.

Beck is like Ted Baxter. Both say things against their grain-gets them noticed. George Will on Fox caved also.

“Do Not Feed the Bears”.

There is a reason such behavior is prohibited.

Beck is busy feeding the bears.

Glen Beck has a good thing going, its not in his interests that things improve or change in any way.

Don’t blame me, blame the author. I’m just copying and pasting the title AS IS.

American Thinker seems much clearer on the subject than some of Beck’s adoring fans.

With Beck, it ALWAYS has to be about him. He actually told people to take note that HE, the person who was so maligned and misunderstood, was the person spearheading that misguided effort. He is driven by emotion and by ego.

Then he condemned conservatives for not falling into line with his stunt, calling them judgmental and “pusses.” (Pretty rich from someone who bawls like a woman and says he’s the most feminine man on earth).

As for the foolishness of his actions, Rick Perry noted that the invaders are calling their relatives, describing the wonderful treatment they’re receiving, and urging them to come on up. Beck, with his desire to play Santa Claus, shares part of the blame.
