Why Benjamin Netanyahu Should Be Very, Very Worried

Chris Wallace of Fox News Sunday asked Benjamin Netanyahu whether he was worried about "a third intifada." The Israeli prime minister replied that Hamas "wants to pile up" Gazan casualties in hope of instigating an uprising. In other words, he ducked the heart of the question.

Netanyahu should be worried. The Israeli public should be worried. All supporters of the Jewish state should be worried—not only about the prospect of current events spiraling out of control, but also about a confluence of demographic and social trends that threaten Israel's ability to manage the war of perceptions.

This piece not so subtly blames Israel for not negotiating with Hamas through surrogates. What if they had? Hamas would take any offer as a sign of weakness and redouble their terror campaign. This is more of the same from the crew that wants us to negotiate away Iran's bomb and fix the illegal immigration problem by opening the borders; peace at any price.

That won’t be a problem for Israel. It will be a problem for the US and any other nation that comes against Israel in these last days. Here is just a sample of God’s promise to Israel and His warning to those who come against her.

The Israelis need to get control of the news sources in Gaza:

1) Jam all communications in or out of Gaza;

2)Boot out the UN;

3)Boot out the international pro-Hamas press pool from Gaza, the West bank and Israel;

4)Do what is necessary to clean up the mess while no one is looking

Who cares about world opinion when your existence is at stake. If the US and the West continue to undermine Israel’s security, Israel could just as easily align with Russia. Israel would have to wean off the welfare though.

Israel is doing the right thing. It’s the upsurge in anti-semitism throughout the western world that is disturbing.

Israel just needs to keep destroying tunnels and getting the infrastructure in place so that it never happens again. With Egypt doing to it also, HAMAS basically cut Gaza off from the world.

Unless that is what HAMAS wants.

What the press doesn't see or can't report, cannot be twisted to be used against Israel.

We did the right thing in the Gulf War by putting the press in a cage and only letting them report what we wanted reported. Allowing them full access in Iraq was a terrible mistake.

Virtually every piece I see coming out of Gaza or Israel is Hamas propaganda: Why do the Israelis tolerate it?

Anything he writes is propaganda.

Actually, you should read the whole thing before commenting.

Fournier is who he is. But, in this case, he is reporting how the conventional media has transitioned over time, from supporting Israel to now misrepresenting the conflict. And how the presence of social media now allows for reinforcing these misrepresentations.

It's an insightful report, well worth reading. And the trend does present a real risk to Israel, in terms of perceptions.

I propose that opinion has not changed much in the native populations, or may have improved - it is the Muslim immigrants who explain the increase in anti-Semitism.

Yep. Glad somebody understands the dynamic. I have put forth the theory of us simply EMPing Iran if they get too close to a Nuke. Let Israel do it.

If multiple MidEast countries attack Israel and they have their back to the wall they will nuke Cairo, Tehran, and Damascus. Hopefully they won’t have to.

Hamas needs to be eliminated might as well do it now while the fight is on. Not worry about an intifada.
