House Authorizes Boehner to Sue Obama for Taking Actions Boehner Plans to Fund

The Republican-controlled House of Representatives voted 225-201 on Wednesday evening to authorize Speaker John Boehner (R.-Ohio) to sue President Barack Obama and other administration officials for taking actions implementing the Affordable Care Act that do not follow the language of the law but that the Republican-led House nonetheless has not previously voted to defund and now intends to continue funding.

Rather than take action under its own constitutional authority to curb what it believes are unconstitutional acts by the president, the Republican majority will now ask federal judges to curb the president.

Article 1, Section 9, Clause 7 of the Constitution says: “No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law.” The Constitution thus gives the House the power to shut down any action by the Executive it deems wrongheaded, illegal or unconstitutional. …

This lawsuit is as phony as Boehner, and that’s saying a lot.

Yeah. They need to use the power of the purse to cut this guy’s money off.

But since they won’t do that I guess we’re just screwed.

Yes. He could be defunded from the traditional route of funding via the US Treasury. But it does nothing with respect to his ability to have the Federal Reserve just print electronic scrip like they have been doing for nearly 6 years now in funding the Debt and MBSs on NYSE at a rate of $85B/$75B PER MONTH!.

He’d just engineer a diversion for the Fed to guarantee debt Obama commits for whatever. The Fed doesn’t get an outside audit, and their lies aren’t questioned as long as somebody (NYSE anyone?) gets paid.

Boehner believes the attorneys and judges must be paid or their (attorneys and judges) children will suffer. It’s all for the children! Right? Well anyone with a brain knows it is not all for the children but instead to place the children in further debt. Democrats will go along willingly because the legislation will eventually send money for (attorneys’ and judges’) children. Cannot allow their (attorneys’ and judges’) children to suffer. Now average Americans’ children; the uniparty (made up of republicans and democrats) is in full agreement ... Those children must suffer and suffer severely be they average voters’ children of republican candidates or be they average voters’ children of democrat candidates. Yep, it’s for the children.

The House abdicates it's co-equal authority as the Legislative Branch of government to the Judicial Branch as an act of cowardice instead of DEFUNDing or IMPEACHing the tyrants ... acts it is Constitutionally authorized and encouraged to do.

Boehner is a joke. And Obama is the one laughing. Boehner is apparently trying to force Obama to implement the employer mandate as the law requires him to do. Does Boehner really want the employer mandate enforced? No. But he thinks that if Obama is forced to implement it, that he will be less popular than he is now and will be blamed for the disaster that will follow.

But if the suit is successful then Obama can blame the GOP since they wanted this so bad they sued him.

This is a really stupid move by the GOP. Rather than use the powers they have to keep the dictator in check, they want the courts to do their job for them.

The courts will likely just dismiss the suit as frivolous and note that the House has no standing alone to sue the President.

But the GOP will use this to show their stupid constituents that they tried do do something when, in fact, they did nothing.

Fools.

It is amazing how many do not know that Obama is funding the stock market...if he wants to get impeached, and hand the government back to the Repubs, all he has to do is stop printing Monopoly money.

It’s why the NYSE inexplicably has a great performance standing. Who wouldn’t with a pump-in of about $500 billion per year? They’re being bought off and their numbers reflect it in spite of dismal performance (at least those where the numbers aren’t issued by his lying agencies).

Here’s a question or two (three-four).

What’s a pound of bacon cost in your neck of the woods (that’s 16 ounces-not the new 12-ounces most producers are trying to play like it’s a pound for the same price. Hamburger, eggs, milk bread, steaks riddled with so much fat you’d think somebody cut up Rosie O’Donnell(what the hell is a ‘steak?’). Cereal boxes, chip bags and other ‘containers’ are the same size, but the net weight keeps going down.

It is why I am irate when I leave a grocery store now. “Obama Inflation” is killing us. But, no surprise. A hell of a weight loss program. It really sucks. Just pray for a REAL American president in 2016 (or as close as we can come).

As usual, cutting down an effort before it even gets going. We can always bet on Freepers to do that.

The point of this suit is to prevent Obama from simply ignoring laws. The laws may be good or not, but they were passed by Congress and while conservatives may claim Obama is simply exercising some hidden intent of the GOPe, he’s not.

There’s no point in passing and funding either good laws or bad laws if you have an executive that blithely ignores them.

So where is the coherent defense of the GOPe here? Rhetoric isn’t going to do it.

The “suit” is a sham. Boehner just demonstrated it here by throwing money at more Obama laws. Nobody even needs Captain Obvious to point it out.

It’s not a sham, and is actually the only thing the Dems are worried about. They’re actually raising money on this “impeachment” nonsense...they collected $1.2 million this weekend alone by whining that the evil GOP wants to impeach their hero, even though nobody in the GOP has said anything of the sort. It’s been talked about by Sarah Palin and others, but they’re not elected representatives, and it’s pathetic that the Dems are seizing this faux impeachment to rev up their base. But what they’re really scared of is the lawsuit, and you’re going to see this in the next few days.

What people here don’t seem to understand is that you can attack the GOP for bad law if they pass a bad law that the President is just enforcing...but the problem in this case, is that no matter what the legislature passes, Obama ignores it and does whatever he wants.

That’s what the lawsuit is all about.

The matter of executive orders having undue force of law (violation of the Constitution, obviously) is a different one from the legislature passing laws and Obama not enforcing them (which is another violation of the requirements of the office).

And this thread is not about the lawsuit per se. It’s about Boehner himself undermining the lawsuit by his actions. That fact is not going to be rhetoricized away by unrelated arguments.
