As soon as the House GOP leadership fumbled its border bill, Democrats started blaming Ted Cruz. "Blaming" might be too strong a word -- Democrats were practically vibrating with delight at another chance to portray John Boehner as a simpering loser who keeps getting dunked on by a freshman senator from Texas.
.@SenTedCruz Just thought I'd go right to the source, will the House be voting tonight? — U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan (@repmarkpocan) July 31, 2014
Democrats do this because Cruz is famous, and -- they believe -- primarily associated with the 2013 government shutdown. The press doesn't do much to contradict the message.
And the last thing the GOP needs right now is stories about how Ted Cruz has more influence over the House than Boehner — Chuck Todd (@chucktodd) July 31, 2014
But does Cruz really run the House conservative caucus? Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions, who's been in the Senate since 1997, did plenty of whipping and case-building of his own. Betsy Woodruff confirms what I've heard about Sessions bringing Alabama's House delegation on board; Rep. Mo Brooks became one of the House conservatives most ready to explain why it wasn't worth passing a compromise bill. Cruz played a role, but the Republican opposition to a flimsy "hey, we did something" bill did not need to be taught.

I don’t think the Democrats realize that we see “Republican failure” as a pretty good things these days.
They are really scared of Ted. That means he could probably win in 2016.
His very NAME means "CROSS" and there is only ONE cross we ALL know.
I can understand why he irritates the godless left. His very name is an affront to everything the left holds dear, beginning with "godlessness."
The far left ALWAYS lets you know what they fear.
High on their list of phobias are CONSERVATIVES who are not afraid to stand up and point out their crimes against America.
They fear him because he is smart and articulate.
Raul Grijalva just said that on the house floor
LOL

When the Dems attack someone so fervently you know they are very scared of what he could do to their party. The libs hate him because thy know he is dead on target.
Yep. When democrats attack and criticize a Republican you can bet he is doing something right.
I doubt they are scared of Ted. I don’t think he can get the nomination and is unelectable as POTUS. (liking one’s politics doesn’t make them electable) And they don’t care what “we” see. We aren’t going to vote for a Dim.
It’s just a standard low info voter trick. Pick a “bad guy” and blame him for everything. Makes an easier target. Everyone does it. i.e. ODimwit is responsible for [fill in the blank].
The low information voter is only interested in bumperstickers.
Who is your candidate for 2016?
“I doubt they are scared of Ted. I dont think he can get the nomination and is unelectable as POTUS. “
I disagree.
To be fair, it appears you left a government-paid career in DC/VA and chose to retire to CA? I doubt that you are fully informed and/or experienced enough with the general Conservative electorate to speak with authority on the nation-wide electability of a Republican candidate.
Though you are correct on your individual knowledge: Cruz would not win the DC, nor the CA vote.

well- something we can finally agree upon with demoKrats
Probably that dapper Eric Cantor. “He’s just so moderate and energizing.”
(lololololol)
Ted Cruz controls the House and the Senate!
Why do we need Boner & Reid?
They weren't scared of Reagan. They didn't seem to like him very much, big surprise, but they weren't scared of him.
In fact, little of Reagan's legislative record remains standing, thanks to the dedicated efforts of both parties. Just a speed bump for them, not even a detour.
Now, if Cruz is made Senate Majority Leader and, unlike Reid, applies the Constitution to everything that lands on his desk, then they'll fear him. And with good reason.
“Republican failures?” this ash hole thinks we see stopping amnesty as a failure?
My Texas friend gives me the same opinion of him. I spoke to her about him not too long ago. Nice to hear positives.
It’s really not hard to depict John Boehner as a “simpering loser”, because, well, he is.
