I know that general aviation is reasonably safe, but I’ve been up in one single-engine four-seater and never plan to do it again.

If you avoided all the flaming libtards in Hollywood, you’d never be able to see a movie.

If they are a liberal and don't go out of their way to make me know their views, I don't care. I know Bryan Cranston's a lib, but I could still enjoy Breaking Bad. I couldn't watch a Sean Penn movie because he's such a rat and that's all I see when he's on screen.

Bet there was some interesting conversations around that set. JW being a republican, LB being what she was.

Following the death of Mary Anderson—who played Maybelle Merriwether—in April 2014, there are just two surviving credited cast members from the film: Olivia de Havilland who played Melanie Wilkes and Mickey Kuhn, who played her son Beau Wilkes.[2]

Maureen O’Hara, and John Wayne were famous during their time for their acting skills. They made a total of five movies together. These movies included Rio Grande, where they played a couple torn apart with the Civil War. They reunited in The Quiet Man, where John Wayne, and American fell in love with the Irish girl, Maureen O’Hara. They came together for their third movie called McLintock which happened to be a western. The final two movies they acted in together included Big Jake and that of The Wings of Eagles.

“anti-Republican... “ and “You are welcoming to everyone when you’re a liberal.” Well, no contradiction there.

That’s interesting. I know Olivia’s sister Joan Fontaine, died a year or so ago, my mom called that day and was sad. She really liked her.

Yes, I was shocked to hear de Havilland was still alive when Mickey Rooney died the other month. She beats them all.

Who is this Murphy?

(That is the point several of us would make.)

Oh I hit enter before I finished.

I got goosebumps from Olivia in The Snake Pit. I had to see it for all weird things, a grad psych course.

That’s horrible.

Happened (sort of) to me back in ‘03.

We went to a family gathering (my dad’s siblings, basically) arranged by his next-up brother. Turns out the day we left a family friend had called in tears asking if we had anything for a funeral for her mother (brain cancer).

Then, that uncle up and died a couple weeks later from some aneurysm type thing (still don’t know exactly). Another month or 2, and another uncle (had been at the gathering) died as well - not unexpected with colon cancer so severe by that time.

Biggest question mark was the friend - truthfully though nearby, we didn’t interact enough to count, perhaps.

Gosh I haven’t seen that since the ‘80s! Made an impression, though not old enough to remember all right.

I saw it in the late 80s. It had a scene that showed shock treatment which gave me nightmares.

The other day TCM had a William Powell film festival going on and they made mention of the fact that William Powell and Myrna Loy made an astounding 14 movies together.
A record that will never be broken and they were really underrated actors in my opinion.

Maureen O’Hara is still with us, God bless her!

And she lives right here in the Treasure Valley (Boise, Idaho Metro area).

Lauren Bacall, born Betty Joan Perske, was first cousin to the ninth president of Israel, statesman Shimon Peres (aka Szymon Perski) who had to share his Nobel Peace prize with Yasser Arafat.
