Will she or won’t she? The race to replace Iowa Democratic Senator Tom Harkin couldn’t be any closer.

The latest Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey of Likely Iowa Voters finds Republican Joni Ernst and Democrat Bruce Braley tied with 43% support each. Six percent (6%) like some other candidate and eight percent (8%) are undecided.

I know it’s rather early, but I think we’re going to win this one. Bruce Braley’s votes and deeds are coming home to roost.

I am irritated that Democrats can still be running so close in these races.

The nation’s economy and society is a disaster, and the Demon Rats are the architects thereof.

They should all be thrown out, with about 30 to 40% of the Republicans.

“Bruce Braley’s votes and deeds are coming home to roost.”

But his neighbor’s chickens won’t be roosting in *his* home if he has anything to say about it.

The DNC will just bus in some more “voters”, from “ill”inois, and correct the in-just-us going on in Iowa.

You need to understand, last fall Braley was beating all challengers by 20 points. He was considered unbeatable. This is amazing news for the GOP.

I have low expectations for a state that would elect a hump like Harkin time after time after time....

Iowa is a strange state, although it is pretty “bible-belt” and conservative on most social issues, many Iowans depend a great deal on big government handouts in the form of farm subsidies, so what should be a Republican lock often turns into a tossup.

Not this year...they’ll need their voters to stay home and vote. Quinn’s going to need more than dead voters this time around.

If it is within 15%, the GOP runs the risk of losing.

Remember, who votes isn’t important, it is who counts the votes.

Harkin's machine has been given to Braley (or maybe the other way around), so the nasty, nonstop, lefty PAC ads make this race very much like another Harkin run.

Anyone who still votes for a Demonic Party candidate after the last six years, should be charged for their oxygen - preferably at a rate higher than they can afford. They are nothing more than socialists, communists, and fascists...

“The DNC will just bus in some more “voters”, from “ill”inois, and correct the in-just-us going on in Iowa.”

Iowa needs to inform Illinois citizens who illegally vote in Iowa that they will be hanged from lampposts alongside the road, their homes will be burned to the ground and all their dogs will be shot.

Iowa has never been particularly conservative on social issues. It drifts with the larger culture.

Did you know there’s actually only about 60,000 full-time farmers in Iowa? The primarily farming counties are almost always Republican.

Union, industrial, and Catholic eastern Iowa is the Democrat base. Republicans in the Des Moines metro are mostly social moderates and upper middle class. Very large population of Social Security recipients throughout the state.

Joni Ernst: I was harassed in the military
http://www.politico.com/story/2014/08/joni-ernst-harassment-military-iowa-110067.html
By LUCY MCCALMONT | 8/15/14 5:03 PM EDT

“I had comments, passes, things like that,” Ernst told Time, which noted she served more than 20 years in the military.

Of the harassment, Ernst said it was something she was able to say knock it off “and it simply stopped.”

“But there are other circumstances both for women and for men where they don’t stop and they may be afraid to report it,” the Iowa state senator said.

Ernst said in the interview she would support removing sex assault cases from the military chain of command, which the Pentagon and many Republicans oppose. She added that she didn’t back Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand’s bill on the issue but wanted to work with the New York Democrat and others to craft a new measure.

Ernst, who won the five-way Republican Senate primary battle in June, will face Democratic Rep. Bruce Braley in November to replace retiring Sen. Tom Harkin. She gained headlines after she spoke of castrating hogs in a campaign ad released earlier this year.

If Ernst wins, she will be the first female combat veteran to serve in the Senate, Time said. Ernst, currently a lieutenant colonel in the Iowa Army National Guard, also served a tour in Iraq.
