ISIS had recently threatened to kill U.S. journalist James Foley to avenge airstrikes the United States has conducted in Iraq, a senior U.S. official told ABC News.
The White House had been aware of the threat prior to the release of a video Tuesday night that appears to show the beheading of Foley and warns that militants will carry out a similar act against U.S. journalist Steven Sotloff, who went missing in August, the official said.

The only real deterrent to this activity is to destroy the driving force of Islam, the Kabalaa stone in Mecca, House of Saud be damned.
Alternatively, the Saudis could be blackmailed into eradicating all the fundamentalist vermin and providing a new version of the Q’ran that omits all the kill-the-Kaffir stuff.
All that needs to happen is for the West to threaten to reduce Mecca and Medina to radioactive craters unless the Saudis put a stop to the Mohammedan madness. They can do it, and we, of course, would be glad to help in any way we can.

Hmmmm. I was thinking about this last night. Could Obamas trip back to DC have had something to do with this? I don’t know how it would tie in, maybe given a deadline, etc. but it is a little suspicious, especially since they are acknowledging they knew about the threat prior. It is probably safe to assume that the White House is at least a couple of weeks ahead of the news that makes the MSM on a daily basis. Their Intel is pretty darn good. Unfortunately what they do with it is pretty darn bad.

I think that could be a possibility.. Nothing else reasonable has surfaced from his quick trip back to DC - and it was planned well in advance.
I think David Cameron of the UK came off of his vacation and this event was specifically referenced. So there might be something to the idea that Obama returned for this reason.
