After Reaching $433,000, Donations For Ferguson Cop Halt Mysteriously

Fundraising mysteriously ends for Ferguson police officer who killed Michael Brown After raising more than $400,000 for the police officer who killed an unarmed black 18-year-old in Ferguson, Mo., two online donation pages appear to have been shut down by their organizers without explanation this weekend.
On the crowdsourced fundraising site GoFundMe, "Support Officer Darren Wilson" and "Support Officer Wilson" -- two separate pages with similar names -- have raised $235,750 and $197,620, respectively, for the Ferguson police officer who shot Michael Brown on Aug. 9.
A similar page for Brown's family, run by the family's attorney, Benjamin Crump, had raised $314,099 as of Sunday afternoon.
The shooting triggered weeks of unrest and demonstrations against the overwhelmingly white police force in mostly black Ferguson, sending Wilson into hiding as local and federal investigations seek to determine whether he wrongfully killed Brown.
The online donation campaigns have generated some controversy for defending Wilson, especially after some visitors left racially offensive remarks in at least one of the comment sections, which have since been removed.
Both pages appear to have stopped taking donations around the same time on Saturday, and the pages' organizers did not explain why. If a visitor attempts to donate, a message appears that says: "Donations are Complete! The organizer has stopped donations."

The headline is completely misleading. The donations didn’t “stop mysteriously” — the organizer stopped taking donations. That’s a big difference.

ok, i’m reading this completely different. it is even more disturbing that the organizer stopped taking donations because they can more easily get to one or two people, whereas you couldn’t threaten hundreds of individual donors.
this is fishy.
Where is the money collected so far?
Glad I waited. I had thought about sending a few dollars, but wasn’t sure about the trustworthiness of these sites. Besides, the officer has not yet been charged.

I’ve been somewhat following their Facebook page and those “racially insensitive comments” were being made by those donating the minimum amount ($5) just so they could leave a comment.
The organizers were having trouble with those shenanigans from almost the first day and were removing the posts and refunding that money as fast as they could.
Anyone wanna bet on the political leanings of those making them?
Maybe they decided to stop taking donations for whatever reason.
Ending revenue collections is something a liberal cannot understand.

I haven’t followed the campaign for the last two weeks, but what happened originally is that the individual campaign stopped taking donations when they were finally able to find an official tax-deductible destination for the contributions. The foundation which is mentioned in the story is the one the Fergusson PD website specified. It’s a foundation operated by the local union for a number of local agencies, it’s a registered non-profit, and it provides funding for local law enforcement families in need. The individual fund indicated that it was going to transfer its collections to the foundation once they were received from GoFundMe.
The fact that the reporter couldn’t get an instantaneous response from the foundation’s officers to an e-mail sent in the middle of the Labor Day holiday, doesn’t strike me as particularly suspicious. The fact that the reporter’s trying to make a big thing of it does make me suspect the reporter’s intentions.
That 235,500 amount for the original site is the figure they had collected when they switched accounts 8/21, so the statement that they stopped taking contributions yesterday is false. The original site hasn’t accepted contributions since the foundation site was opened.

It would appear that Matt Pearse is a fella who once goes Black, never comes back.
Why did they refund the money?
They should have kept it.
