School’s back — and so is the liberal agenda! Across the country, parents and lawmakers are up in arms about an honors curriculum that gives new meaning to the phrase “history in the making.” The 95-page outline is so agenda-driven, educators complain, that basic U.S. facts are either distorted — or worse, omitted altogether. The College Board’s proposal is a study in liberal indoctrination — so much so that the Republican National Committee (RNC) formally opposed the idea in August. In a vote, the RNC concluded that the Advanced Placement (AP) curriculum is a “radical revisionist view” of America’s greatest moments. pro marriage march

If history had a milk carton, Benjamin Franklin and Martin Luther King Jr.‘s faces would both be listed as missing persons in this latest attempt to rewrite the past. And those two leaders aren’t the only things absent from the Board’s outline. “There is no mention of Hitler, the Holocaust, D-Day, or other historic battles,” complains Christy Armbruster. “And you’re not going to find Thomas Jefferson and the House of Burgesses and the cradle of democracy either,” chimed in test expert Larry Krieger.

“What you’re going to find is our nation’s founders portrayed as bigots who developed a belief in white superiority that was, in turn, derived from a strong belief in British racial and cultural superiority,” he explained. The proud tradition of religious liberty — the very thing that drove the Pilgrims to the new world — vanished from the text like the lost colony of Roanoke.

It’s a “drastic departure” from the old outline. Too drastic, experts say. With more than a half-million kids potentially exposed to the curriculum, you can’t blame people for being upset about the revisions. If there’s any hope for the future, it’s giving the next generation a grasp on the past.

Fortunately, there’s no shortage of outrage over the Left’s push to modify the curriculum to fit their narrative. Teachers and administrators from various schools banded together to send a letter to the College Board, demanding that the group table the guidelines. Now, even legislatures are getting into the act, as seven states — including Tennessee — try to delay or block the curriculum. Volunteer State Senators Dolores Gresham and Mike Bell sent the draft to their Board of Education, asking for a thorough review.

In the meantime, the College Board is frantically trying to justify the framework, insisting that there was “no political motivation” behind the exam. You could have fooled us! With the Common Core debate raging in school board meetings on both coasts, parents are on to the Left’s strategy for the classroom. In an August Gallup poll, only 15% of Americans said they wanted federal influence on the public schools. This is true.. Common core (by whatever name) is horrible! My Son learned in World History “Global Warming” occurred in the Middle ages!

[The Medieval Warm Period ended with what people then referred to as the “great hunger,” or Great Famine (1315-1322 CE), which affected mainly northern Europe. In 1315, the once-welcome rains flooded farms, and crops rotted in farm fields. The soaked waterlogged crops died well before they could be harvested.
What few crops could be salvaged (or imported from southern Europe) were expensive because the demand for food far outstripped the supply. Wheat prices increased more than 300%; most people could no longer afford to buy or make bread. The animals that people used for meat died of hunger. By 1316, farmers were eating their seed grain just to stay alive—even though this meant that they would have no seed to plant the following year. Still, the rain continued to fall. Torrents of rain flooded land and destroyed crops throughout 1316. The year 1317 brought the worst downpours yet. By this time, more than a million people had died. Even though the rain slacked off gradually, beginning in 1322, it was not until 1325 that agriculture returned to a semblance of normality. It took many years for farmers to acquire the seed grain they needed to plant new crops. These climate change catastrophes affected mainly Europe. As in most times of crisis, people and society were focused on survival; most other endeavors were set aside.]

An excerpt of Obama’s speech to welcome British Prime Minister in 2012 was compared to an excerpt of FDR ‘For Freedoms’ State of the Union. Obama’s speech of course EXCLUDED these comments as well as FDR’s statement to prepare our nations as well as support allies militarily:

My younger daughter is currently taking this. We’ve already had a discussion about the changes since here sister took it 2 years ago. They are dramatic and she’s disappointed as she was looking forward to having extended discussions on the colonial period. They are spending very little time on the colonial period whatsoever.

She’s still interested in discussing it with me, but it’s not the same as being able to discuss it with her peers.

She’s not a happy camper. Doesn’t want to have to go outside the system to get what she is looking for by doing additional self directed studies, but realizes that is what she’ll have to do if she wants to dig into it.

My daughter is taking AP history as a sophomore year in high school, and her school system/state has already implemented Common Core.

But I take some solace that her summer reading assignment was “A Rise to Rebellion.” And I will be watching the HBO series “John Adams” with her as an extra-curricular activity this semester.

I monitor what they’re teaching her very closely, and make sure she has a good understanding of leftist historical revisionism and Orwellian Newspeak and Doublethink.

“At a recent awards dinner, held in Stamford, CT, and attended by 230 educators, corporate executives and civic figures, people were stunned when the recipient of an award from the Childcare Learning Centers of Stamford, paraphrased Adolf Hitler.

Yes, you heard me right. And you know what? There is a war going on over our children here in America.

Developer Robert D. Scinto, chairman of the William Pitt Foundation, said “Give me a child when he’s 7 and he’s mine forever“, in his attempt to underscore the need for early childhood education.

To add to the outrageous nature of this comment Scinto later said, “I don’t know why anyone was offended…What I wanted to say is we should spend this kind of time and money with children. No one should have been offended.”

No one should be offended? This goes to show how bone-headed and thoroughly intentioned these supporters of early childhood education can be. That proclamation was just as scary as the first! It just goes to prove and validate that there is, and has been, a fight between so-called “educators” and the family. Early Childhood Education and its government funded agencies (like Childcare Learning Centers of Stamford) aim to take your child’s mind, and now it is apparent that these educators and their supporters feel that the earlier the better. In my opinion, Early Childhood Education encourages the abrogation of parenthood. It allows others, along with the state’s blessing, to raise the majority of our children from babyhood on up. By intruding into the child’s life and development, they can also intrude into the parent’s home and its management.

HITLER actually said,

“He alone, who owns the youth, gains the future”, and he also wrote, “Universal education is the most corroding and disintegrating poison that liberalism has ever invented for its own destruction.”

Hitler’s strategy included controlling people at young ages as it was to him the key to continuing their subjugation as they grew older. Hitler also said,

“Let me control the textbooks and I will control the state. The state will take youth and give to youth its own education and its own upbringing. Your child belongs to us already….what are you?”

The reach of government school is now steadfastly expanding into Pre-K. The desire is to have all 3 and 4 year olds attend public school, just like in European countries following the UNESCO agenda. Billions in tax dollars have already been used for pre-school programs. No longer are government educators content to take our children at age 5 in the name of “compulsory education”. We have even heard comments from Progressive legislators in Connecticut who proclaim,” You are not serving your child properly if you are waiting until age 5 to formally educate your child”. Some even claim that if you don’t put your child in pre-school they may turn out to be criminals! They will even tell you that government funded Pre-K is a good investment for our country because “the kids make better citizens”. They produce reams of ridiculous studies, charts and brain scans, and parents, especially low income and minority parents, are unfortunately being convinced that they are unable to raise their own children without the government’s “experts”.

Government taxes everyone so much, and has created such an intensely consumer driven economy, that both parents must now work. Didn’t they do this in Communist countries? You know, take away the babies so parents can work for the state? They called it free public education from nursery to university, and the government’s agenda by and large worked to weaken the importance of the family.

Initially after the revolution, divorces required no court proceedings, abortions were legalized, women were encouraged to take jobs outside the home, and communist nurseries were set up to care for children while their mothers worked. (Civilization Past & Present, pg 830).

Pre-K education in America is clearly a huge power grab as well as a jobs program. The foray into Pre-K not only swells the numbers of education union employees, but it also creates more opportunity to create “credentialed” preschool educators (and the programs to create them) who stand to take more money from taxpayers. Early childhood education masquerades as a way to close a so-called achievement gap but more significantly it also removes children from the home at an earlier age. It is a way to further minimize the importance of the parent and the family and make the pre-school and government school teachers the primary focus in a child’s life. This is something that has not been a good thing for babies at all. It creates stress and confusion for the child. Kids end up calling teacher, “Mommy” and not knowing who it is they should listen to when conflicting rules are presented.

There was this in America in the 70’s:

“Every child in America entering school at the age of five is MENTALLY ILL because he comes to school with CERTAIN ALLEGIANCES to our FOUNDING FATHERS, toward our ELECTED OFFICIALS, toward his PARENTS, toward a BELIEF IN A SUPERNATURAL BEING, and toward the SOVEREIGNTY of this NATION AS A SEPARATE ENTITY. It’s up to YOU AS TEACHERS to make ALL these SICK CHILDREN WELL by creating the INTERNATIONAL CHILD OF THE FUTURE.” – Harvard psychiatrist Chester M. Pierce, speaking as an expert in public education at the 1973 International Education Seminar

Thankfully, there ARE people who understand what is happening.

This from the article, War on Toddlers:

“Universal preschool will provide job security for teachers and education administrators and provide lucrative contracts for specialty interest groups such as curriculum providers, transportation providers, food service providers, construction companies that build schools, maintenance and custodial services, school psychologists, and drug companies. Drug companies? Yes! Preschoolers will be tested, and funding of preschools will be based on test results. What happens when a kid doesn’t test well? A small child’s inability to focus could be diagnosed as ADD. What will be the solution – Ritalin for 3-year-olds?”

NOW our country is facing national curriculum standards. We’d do well to remember “Under the Nazis, schools were a primary target for control and their administration was placed in the hands of the party faithful. By 1938, the German school system was brought under the total control of the central government and removed from the jurisdiction of the individual states or Lander (Huebner, 1962). ”

We surely do not need other people, or the government to raise our children. Thank heaven we can still homeschool our children. And this is why it is so fundamentally necessary to make sure that we can continue to do so, unfettered, unburdened, and unregulated by those who so very very much want your child’s mind.”

Gives a whole new meaning to "Government Schools," doesn't it...

No, I won't make the comparison, but any truly educated person with a firm grasp of Western history will immediately see the comparison a recent series of despotic, delusional regimes, in both Europe and Asia.

It's hard to take any report seriously which refers to a horrible "95-page outline" that is filtered through the very type of "filter" that the article is complaining about.

No link to the source.

If I have no access to the source, I'm not going to get too excited about it.

I would, but honestly, she pretty much would rather die than read a book. The 500+ page Rise to Rebellion was a complete ordeal for her, and the only way she got through it was to finally ask me to get her the audiobook version, which I was glad to do. So she got through it (we'll see how well she absorbed it when we get back the quiz results now that she's back in school.)

That's why I'm going to watch the John Adams miniseries with her (based on McCullough's book). BTW, if you haven't seen it, it is wonderful.

The next book (other than assigned reading at school) that I am going to try and get her to read is 1984.

The next book (other than assigned reading at school) that I am going to try and get her to read is 1984.

That book was the assigned summer reading for my soph. She will be reading Lord of the Flies, Julius Caesar, Antigone, Night, The Importance of Being Ernest, and a four or so more I forgot. Seems like a pretty good year for LA.
