NASA has awarded the highly-anticipated space taxi contract to Boeing and SpaceX, a move which will end the agencys reliance on Russian technology to transport U.S. astronauts to the International Space Station.
The Commercial Crew Transportation Capability contract aims to restore an American capability to launch astronauts from U.S. soil to the International Space Station by the end of 2017. Since the end of the Space Shuttle program in 2011, American astronauts have been transported to space on Russian-built Soyuz vessels.

Hello Elon Musk, meet Muslim outreach.
Interesting. Do we even still have a NASA?
That’s really sweet...I just hope that Muslims are included.
IIRC NASA shuttle launches cost something like 1 billion per launch (prior to giving up) where SpaceX sends up shuttles for 100 million or so and still make a profit.
NASA Administrator Charlie Bolden disclosed that Obama wants him to find ways to reach out to dominantly Muslim countries as part of the administrations efforts to make the space agency a tool of international diplomacy.....
“Boeing, who hasn’t done anything but paperwork, and has flown no flight hardware....”
Space Shuttle count?
Boeing has been a partner with Northrup-Grumman in maintaining and upgrading our strategic missile fleet, as well as engaging in hyper-sonic missile design—controlled maneuvering flight at speeds experienced on re-entry, and Prompt Global Strike. . .among other space-related programs that can’t be mentioned here.
Old technology in some cases but with retained corporate knowledge for the engineers.
The space program for Boeing has been in R&D for a long time, designing, evaluating, testing space vehicle technology constantly. . .the guys in Huntington Beach and St Louis are always into something ‘space’ and kept the technology alive, and Phantom Works is also deep into certain aspects of spaceflight as well.
Point being, they are not novices.
If you know my posting history I am not a Boeing acolyte and am harsh on them for their senior leadership failures and arrogance. I know several of the engineers working space-related platforms and capability and they are a dedicated bunch, zealots in a way, when to comes to trying to make space launch/travel a viable program.
They will be given access to the most sensitive data.
And, I have read, Boeing has been given $400 million up front, too, while SpaceX has developed a man-rated capsule on their own money.
I think I can speak for most Freepers here when I say that unless Muslims are consulted and feel good at every stage of this process, we will riot. No space flight without Sharia approval. No justice, no peace.
For the children.

SpaceX doesn’t send up shuttles. They send small payloads into low earth orbit. HUGE difference.
Boeing gets more money: $4.2 billion to $2.6 billion.
Boeing built the x-37 which has been in orbit for 18 months.
SpaceX had huge government contracts. The Obama supporter who runs SpaceX did invest a lot of his money but they operated on govt money.
Boeing earned this job. I’m glad we have two.
But SpaceX actually delivered something physical for those contracts. Boeing has given them a concept.
A concept that has been in orbit 18 months
