Not only did G_d give us vegetables to eat, he also gave us meat. Argue with G_d’s dietary freedoms and gifts and you might suffer.
This spelling of God that way is one of the sillier superstitions I have come across (and yes, fully acknowledging the rabbinical origins from a scripture text taken in isolation).
The meaning of that passage is to spread the fame of God all over the place, but let pagan gods be forgotten.
