Underinsured ACA enrollees strain community health centers

Obamacare enrollees are straining the finances of community health centers around the country, some health center leaders say.

The issue is that many lower-income patients with insurance coverage through the federal and state exchanges bought bronze-tier plans with lower premiums but high deductibles, coinsurance and copayments and no federal cost-sharing subsidies. When these patients face high out-of-pocket costs for care that falls below the deductible, they can't afford it.

So the centers are subsidizing that care by offering them means-tested sliding-scale fees. When the centers, which are not allowed to turn away patients for inability to pay, try to get the insurers to pay, the claims are usually denied, and the centers have to write it off as uncompensated care.

Since there is no way that media wants anything Hussein did to be spoken of as anything except a complete triumph of his genius, they have to have an agenda in reporting any disruptions in CommieCare, and they do. They are only reporting the problems in order to lay the groundwork for a complete federal take-over of “health care”. They would never do so if it meant overturning CommieCare, and the GOPe has done nothing meaningful to overturn it either. Why should they care, really, they’re exempt. I could believe that they didn’t do all they could to prevent it from being voted in, in the first place.

ObamaCare should be even more “very popular” once these community health centers have to start shutting down. Thanks Barry!

I hope everyone who voted for LIBs/DIMs is happy. The new health care is modeled on the average DMV.

I doubt only lower income people are caught up in the high deductible, high premium, no subsidy nightmare of the bronze tier of Obamacare. The difference is that most of those who are not considered low incomes will have bank accounts and other means by which the centers can collect on past due bills.

So what they are saying is the insurance isn’t paying for it because they have high deductibles and haven’t met them yet......and the deadbeats aren’t paying their part of the deductible to the centers.
Of course they are making it sound like it is all the insurance companies fault for not paying for the deductible.
