>> When a person chooses the rabid full term abortion platform, full homosexuality and gay marriage adoption and military, and open borders party platform deliberately, then I won’t support him and his party. <<

Valid point. I don't trust the Libertarian Party as a whole and many of their self-proclaimed "pro-life conservatives" are actually Ron Paul nuts.

But the same can be said of the "Republican" nominee, Bruce Rauner. When the "Republican" candidate chooses to take a rabid pro-abortion stance, full homosexuality and gay marriage adoption and military, and is completely in bed with Rahm Emanuel and has given thousands of dollars to hard-core marxist Dems, I don't trust him to represent the Republican Party or govern as a Republican.

I'm undecided for Governor, but thus far I've ruled out Quinn (who is worst than Blago and has run this state into the ground), Rauner (who appears to be the Illinois version of Michael Bloomberg... some filthy rich leftist who came in and bought the GOP nomination because he couldn't win the RAT nomination), and the Constitution Party ticket (not that it matters since they got kicked off the ballot, but their Lt. Governor nominee told me that anyone who disagrees him about the world being 6000 years old is "not a Christian")

That leaves me pretty slim pickings if I actually want to cast a protest vote instead of "staying home". Basically its down to the Libertarian nominee and 1 or 2 independent write-in candidates.

I would never contribute my support to the libertarian party to advance their national agenda.

You have to consider what the ultimate effect of your vote is, after the dust settles.

In this case, voting for either the Losertarian or the Constipationalist or some other third party whackjob (or staying home) will improve Quinn's chance of reelection. So, your optimal vote is Rauner. He sucks, but he's way better than Quinn.

How so? Simply because he has an "R" next to his name?

We went through this whole song and dance 4 years ago when the GOP swore up and down that "fiscal conservative" Mark Kirk was "better" than Alexi and would be "with us when it counts". Then he went to Washington and promptly broke every "conservative" campaign promise he made to get elected, and became a staunch ally of Durbin & Obama.

Where’s the “Aw, Jeez” guy ? Rauner wins, Quinn wins, half a dozen of one, six of another. Another Combiner sideshow.

Let see if I can piss off EVERYONE with this post. ;p

Mathematically speaking, a vote for Grimm, a write in vote for Mickey Mouse, and a no-vote, are all the same, they don’t effect the outcome.

If your aim is to a cast “protest vote” that gets noticed, the only choice is Grimm, some write in that will get 20 votes statewide is not sending a message. Grimm, while completely unqualified to be Governor, is certainly to the right of Rauner, and therefore the “least bad” option on the ballot and an acceptable vote to cast, whether you like the liartarian party or not (and I don’t, parts of their agenda and their usual effect of helping democrats win with under 50%, sicken me). Party platforms are pretty irrelevant. There are plenty of pro-life people who run under that party’s label.

As for me, I want Quinn gone, I’m sick of seeing his smug, ugly face, and hearing his arrogant, snooty voice. He’s maybe the 2nd worst Governor in state history after the German born marxist rat JP Altgeld (elected in 1892). He makes me miss BLAGO, who made me miss RINO scumsucker GEO RYAN. Jim Edgar looks like a bar of G** damn gold right now. I want Quinn to lose and then get eaten by a shark.

So I’ll be voting for the only other candidate that will crack 5% of the vote, even though I am not optimistic that he won’t suck. I won’t browbeat anyone else into voting for him though.

How so? Simply because he has an "R" next to his name?

R beats D.

The primary is the chance to choose the best R. But if the good R managed to blow the primary, then it's still better to vote for the crappy R. Because the alternative is a D.

This matters more in legislative races than executive. In a legislative context, you must consider the value of overall control of the body in addition to the value of the individual candidate.

E.g., if worthless Kirk caucuses with the Republicans, that's one vote closer to control of the Senate and one vote closer to Cruz or Lee actually having their bills voted upon, as opposed to being buried by Dingy Harry.

Having to vote on popular Republican bills embarrasses Democrats, who have to choose between nasty campaign commercials and abandoning their President. Having Congress actually pass popular Republican bills forces Zero to veto them. So, sure, they don't become law. But at least the Won had to react. Which he doesn't, now. Thanks to Dingy Harry and 'Rat control of the Senate.

Ain’t no “R” in this race. Rauner is a leftist Democrat using the Republican line. The only real contest would be if an anti-Combiner got the nomination, and that happened in the 2010 Governor’s race (which was promptly stolen by the Combine for Quinn, just as they fixed it for Kirk, another leftist Combiner). It makes no difference which one wins this time, because the people lose (as well as good government).

If I thought that the race will be close, I’d vote for Rauner, since I don’t want to help split the anti-Quinn vote, helping Quinn win with 49% of the vote. I’m not sure whom I support, but, so far, I think that, based on the 2012 election results (when Obama got 58% in IL), I think that Quinn will get 53%. If, when I vote, I think that the race won’t be close, I’ll probably vote for Grimm, the only conservative in that race. Grimm is the only pro-life candidate, in that race, and he wants to eliminate the state income tax. Grimm told me that, if he wins and the legislature passes a bill that would repeal the law that allows illegal aliens to get driver’s licenses, he’ll sign that bill.

I am pretty certain in saying that the Combine has declared that it is time enough to allow their puppet fake “R” to accede to the Governorship. The Combine had to cheat hard in 2010 to get Quinn through. I expect Rahmbot Rauner will carry all the counties Kirk & Brady did in 2010 (with an unusually high % in C(r)ook County) and will “miraculously” win. Although unlikely, he may get 55%. He’ll then stay in 8-12 years (or until he’s indicted like his predecessors, whichever comes first). That’s the bad news. The really, really bad news will be he’ll probably leave the IL GOP (whatever that is) in worse shape than it’s currently in (and will probably heartily sign off on a Democrat redistricting plan in 2021 that eliminates whatever Conservatives or non-Combiners are left in office).

Lord help Illinois.

As I told you before, there is no chance Quinn wins 53%, none. Especially not based on the 2012 POTUS results you’ve cited in the past as the reason for this prediction, they have no bearing on this race. Quinn is as popular as dog doo on the sidewalk, not on the grass, on the sidewalk, smeared cause someone already stepped in it.

Blago didn’t reach 53% in 2002. You wanna know the last time a rat nominee for Governor got 53% or more? 1960, 19 g** damn 60, when Otto Kerner, running well ahead of his party’s national ticket in the state, ousted 2 term GOP Governor Stratton (our last conservative Governor) by a vote of 55.51% to 44.30%. A result I’ve always found curious. Were you alive yet then? My mom was 8.

And the guy to do the best for the rats since then is gonna be Governor Dog Doo, in a Republican year? No. Not. gonna. happen.

If he wins it will be another squeaker, with under 50%. An easy Rauner win looked likely, the race has now closed after Quinn’s sustained super-negative attacks.

If they came to you and said “the race is tied Phil, you get to pick the Governor”, and you choice would be Rauner, then you should vote for Rauner. If your feeling is Rauner is not acceptable, another Geo.Ryan, would hurt us more than Quinn,, then you should NOT vote for him.

You should not base your vote on your far out prediction of the race, if you wanna get really cute the odds of ANY race coming down to ONE VOTE are approximately zero so you could just stay home or write in “Bugs Bunny”, confident it doesn’t matter what you do. But if EVERYONE did that......

If it was an certain blowout, like Durbin v. Sauerberg in 2008, that would be one thing. Everybody thinks this race is close now and that either man could reasonably win, so vote with that in mind, don’t let yourself off the hook of having to make a tough decision by pretending it doesn’t matter. It matters, make your choice.

“Grimm told me that, if he wins and the legislature passes a bill that would repeal the law that allows illegal aliens to get driver’s licenses, he’ll sign that bill.”

No offense, but that’s a special kind of delusional right there. Grimm’s odds of winning are 0.00001% (I’m being generous), and the odds of the Democrat state legislature voting to repeal the illegal-alien-driver’s-license law are not much higher.

If the IL GOP miraculously takes over the state legislature (or comes close enough so that a few Dems voting with them can make a majority) and passes a bill to repeal that illegal-alien-driver’s-license law, do you know who would sign the bill into law? Rauner (who is far from a conservative, but isn’t a moron, either). And unlike Grimm, Rauner actually has a chance of being elected (I’d put his odds at around 50/50). While Rauner is a RINO POS, if you think that there’s a chance of the driver’s-license law being repealed, that’s a reason right there to vote for Rauner.

If you support the libertarian platform then vote libertarian, you don’t belong here if you support that radical leftist, satanic party though.

I agree that Grimm will lose. I’m glad that he has conservative views. Rauner supports the law that allows illegal aliens to get DL’s.

If my post wasn’t clear, I’m voting for Rauner. He’s less conservative than Grimm, but will get a minimum of 10 votes for every one that Grimm will get.

“Rauner supports the law that allows illegal aliens to get DL’s.”

Yes, because the law is popular among the powers-that-be in IL. But if the legislature (including every Republican and RINO there) votes to repeal the law, there’s no way that he’d stick his neck out and veto it. Quinn, though, would veto it, because liberal Democrats would be against the repeal.

How can Grimm be a conservative if he is so radically leftist that he is actually a card carrying member of the libertarians and fighting for his party’s agenda?

I don’t envy your position of having to make a choice, I didn’t like my situation in 2012, what a suck election you guys are facing for that office, it is nightmarish.
