The thickness and lies are rampant in this piece.

Do they even have editors and fact checkers at Maine News Online?????? Or is this a fake web site created to spew Obamacult propaganda?

It’s pure BS. My company healthcare plan (Aetna) now offers less coverage for higher fees and copays. I’m ditching it in open enrollment this time around, and will rely on TriCare as a military retiree. But not to worry - all the Central American illegals can use their free Obozocare to take care of their head lice, enterovirus, ebola - here in VA, I vote for shipping them all across the 14th Street Bridge to the Free Democratic People’s District of Columbia.

Time for torches and pitchforks.

According to Van de Water, the ACA is enhancing the vital Medicare program, which is facing threats from influx of millions of baby boomers.
This entire story is propaganda BS: This is a cut and paste job (or REALLY bad writing & editing) and my guess is there's a little plagiarism going on here.

Sure ... "better" in what way? Who gets to decide what is best for me? Oh, that's right, the fascist liberal elite want to tell me what is best for me.

Look, I don't give a rat's backside what some libtard thinks is better. Even if they were right I wouldn't care what their opinion was.

Oh, and "better" (by some libtard's estimation) but un-affordable is still un-acceptable. Audi or BMW may make a subjectively, even objectively better car than what I'm driving now. But if I can't afford to buy it, maintain it, insure it, nor put fuel in it... Guess what, my paid-for 8 year old hatchback is a "better" car for me than that new $80,000 A8.

It’s all just accounting tricks.

Yes, injecting a bunch of new people into the system who pay nothing (thanks to subsidies) allows rates to be raised on a lot of other people while still “lowering” costs. Throw in rationing (which is happening too) and costs go down further.

Guess what? If back in school I’d forget to submit an assignment, that zero would pull my average down even if I increased my grades elsewhere ...

The reform has been able to...bring down the cost of health care.

Well, you heard it on the Internet ... so it must be true ... right? Lord, please gift a measure of wisdom to those who would be fooled by misdirection, half truths, and outright lies such as this. Amen.

To continue with how the math works on this ...

Say I pay $100 for insurance. If someone else comes in and pays $0, the average cost drops by 50% (Yea!)

If a friend of mine and I pay $100 each for insurance and a third person comes in and pays $0, average costs drop by 1/3.

If two friends of mine and I pay $100 each for insurance and a fourth person comes in and pays $0, average costs drop by 25%. And so on.

Now that assumes that the money to subsidize that non-payer come from somewhere else. If my two friends and I have to pay 20% more each (so $120) to subsidize the non-payer, average costs decrease (from the original $100) by 10%.

Now keep in mind that we aren’t seeing the full on cost transfer effect of the subsidies, becase 1) Obamacare built a slush fund by collecting taxes years before payout started and 2) the government is borrowing money to cover a portion of the subsidies as well.

As a relative of mine recently said “Don’t sprinkle s&!t on my head and tell me it’s raining!” Journalism is now a venue for creative writing competition.
