Another Udall slips in polls, this time New Mexico’s Tom Udall

A scion of the Udall family is losing ground in this year’s Senate contest, but this time it’s Sen. Tom Udall of New Mexico.

The Democratic incumbent saw his once-formidable lead over Republican Allen Weh shrink in two polls released Monday. A survey taken by Research & Polling Inc. for the Albuquerque Journal has Mr. Udall ahead by 50 to 43 points, down from 51 to 38 percent in its mid-September poll.

Please let that trend keep going. Udall needs to go. His ads this time have been terrible, pretty much outright lies.

Not as bad as the one just run in CO against Gardner, but close.

Also in the article:

A Vox Populi poll issued Monday showed Mr. Udall leading by an even narrower margin—47 to 43 percent—with 11 percent undecided.

This poll, if accurate could be a big upset... Note: if undecideds break 2-1, it would be about 50-50... Vox Populi polling were the ones who first detected that Cantor was in trouble in his primary in Virginia earlier this year

Speaking of ads, are their crossover media markets in NM / CO? That is, TV stations in NM where their viewing area includes CO and vice versa? If so, advertising attacking the Colorado Udall could be affecting the Udall in Mexico as a lot of eyeballs within NM would also be seeing those ads.

I’m not aware of any. The reason I know about the ad against Gardner is because our local radio host played it as part of his discussion about whether people pay attention to ads.

I can’t find video of the ad, but here’s what the ad says:

Woman: Did you try the corner market?

Man: Of course.

Woman: Grocery store?

Man: Sold out?

Woman: Drug store?

Man: Come on.

Woman: So *everyone’s* sold out of condoms? Hmm. How did this happen?

Man: Cory Gardner banned birth control. And now, it’s all on us guys. And you can’t find a condom *anywhere*. And the pill was just the start. Pell grants my little brother was counting on for college? Cory cut them. Climate change that *everyone* knows is weirding our weather, Cory flat-out denies it. Sweet Pea, Cory denies science.

Woman: Come on!

Man: This guy has no idea what’s going on in the real world.

If these are the ads now running - and in heavy enough rotation for them to be seen...you could be right. Excellent ads.

I heard Rush play that earlier - it’s a radio ad. “Corey Gardner banned birth control” - stupid stuff.

I was surprised that Udall was still ahead. Where are the Dems getting this idea that the Republican “will cut Social Security, and give tax cuts to Big Business.” I see it in many races this year. That sounds desperate.

I would think Suzanna Martinez, who’s way ahead in her race for re-election, will bring a lot of votes to Allen Weh.

By the way, moved to ABQ from ATL 6 months ago. A beautiful place and great quality of life.

Aside from Dipshit Durbin I can’t think of one democrat who is totally safe this time around. Not one.

11 percent Undecided: The undecided vote, rule of thumb, breaks for the challenger 75 percent. If this holds up until Election Day, Udall will end up with 49 percent to the Pubbie's 51 percent. He's in big trouble.
