Correct. They also check results to the list of those that voted in the primary. If they voted in the Republican primary it’s a safe bet their early/absentee ballot will match.

Early voting is not right.

It should be election day only.

How come you’ve become so nihilistic and defeatist over the years?

Yes, they have to know how many (R) voted so they will know how many dead people to vote (D)...................

I agree.

We should also either move election day to April 15th, or move tax day to the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November.

“the truth is the GOP is liberal and they despise people like you and me.”

That is such a crock. Talk about a total generalization.

It should be election day only.

And paper ballots. And finger dye. And ID required nationwide. Really, third world nations are way ahead of the US in this regard.

First, polling in early voting states will ask whether someone voted, who they voted for and their party affiliation.

In the AMERICA I grew up in, there was a sanctity to voting in that YOUR vote was private. You didn't ask, you didn't tell. You didn't discuss it at work, and if you were smart, you didn't discuss it with your wife.

It seemed to be a much more SANE way.

IF it were a slaughter I think I would get choked up and cry tears of happiness, as I did when the Soviet Union fell.

Too bad some states and districts are so Dem that we can’t just sweep them out as they deserve.

I think there should not be a single Senator or Congresscritter elected from a party that supports Obamacare, Disarmament, Racism, and Illegal Immigration.

Unless I am mistaken, the parties have election challengers who check whether a voter is a registered republican or democrat? That’s what they do on election day here. They don’t know how they voted, they just check off their voters on their lists.

The only poll I’ve ever answered in my life was a neilsen one about 25 years ago. And thats because they paid me a dollar in advance :-)

Part of the reason is that many polls are really just elicitation attempts to gather data/information thats plugged into systems like the Dem’s Catalist.

However, the problem with not answering a “legitimate” public opinion poll is that the results will skew. Have enough Conservatives hang up and a poll may erroneously conclude that a Dem will win. This in turn could drive turnout FOR the Dem, via bandwagon effect.

I work in IT.

Yet I do not trust it for recording durability and audit-ability.

Paper should be used for anything that needs to endure, checked or be private.

Such as, medical records, memoirs, family memoirs and ballots.

But they’re not Democrats. Not that there’s much difference,

" There are no sides. There's no Sunnis and Shiites. There's no Democrats and Republicans. There's only HAVES and HAVE-NOTS. "

I saw some Democrat operative opine that their data suggested that the GOP earlier voters (in his state) were reliable voters, whereas the Dem early voters were new or additive votes that otherwise likely would not have been cast. That is, he thought the early GOP votes were cannibalized from their traditional day-of voters.

Dear Safrguns,

“Republicans always start out with the lead.

“Democrats always finish ahead, because they are the ones counting the votes.”

That's true of same-day, election-day voting, but as early voting has become more popular, Democrats had gotten very good at turning out a large portion of their ballots before election day, and in the recent past, had usually clobbered Republicans in early voting.

The significance of this is that the Republicans are running competitively in the early voting, or even ahead.
