A doctor who contracted Ebola was discharged from a hospital on Tuesday after weeks of isolation treatment for the virus and was cheered by New Yorkers from City Hall to the Harlem apartment building where he lives.
The release of Dr. Craig Spencer, 33, who worked with Ebola patients in Guinea and had been held at Bellevue Hospital Center since he was diagnosed with the virus on Oct. 23, will mean no one in the United States is being treated for the disease, according to media reports.
Spencer appeared at a news conference Tuesday morning, standing alongside New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.
"It's a very, very good day," de Blasio said. "New York City's first and only Ebola case successfully treated. Dr. Spencer is Ebola-free and New York City is Ebola-free."

I just hope their are no animal carriers that the virus has found in the U.S.. If it has, then we could be stuck with recurring outbreaks. Highly improbable, but I still hope that this is never the case. With proper precautions though, even Duncan may have survived and the scares wouldn’t have been as big. But it may have helped with some of the elections though.
Outcome, schmoutcome .. that Spencer guy remains a self-absorbed @hole, deserving of being stripped of any medical credentials, along with ten years of proper shunning.

That #30 reads like an Øbola press release.
If a Liberian prostitute spread it...
...that is one sick idea.
There are other diseases out there that could get in other than ebola. Let’s just pray that ebola doesn’t evolve further.

“CDC made two critical errors in late July.CDC made two critical errors in late July.”
Your opinion stands against the facts. The facts are that in spite of open air travel to infected West Aftrican countries we have no ebola outbreak. Period.
“Imagine one prostitute in Washington DC or Baltimore with Ebola, pre hemorrhaging?.”
That would be an end to congress. :-)
“And just how many ebola patients could the american medical care infrastructure treat at one time with a goal of optimum outcome and no retransmission of the disease? Any random or quantified guesses?
My moderately well-informed guess is about 20-25.”
Wow that is a pretty bleak assessment. We can care for 11 in the four specialized containment centers alone. Then we have over 5700 other hospitals.
“with a goal of optimum outcome and no retransmission of the disease”, Is not really the question that should be asked. Hospitals spread infections in large numbers daily. Any hospital is a high risk location for getting sick. The realistic goal is to prevent outbreak, i.e. widespread transmission.
“Second was the persistence of clearly wrong infection prevention guidance up through 10/20/14”
The ONLY two cases in the US were spread through VIOLATION of the CDC guidance.
“I sense a strong aura of ‘shill’ in your poorly edited talking points.

That response sounds like a “I am going to cast stones and call names, because I can’t deny the facts”. Many Freepers have persistently made fools of themselves on this topic. From early statements by Freepers right now America should be in the midst of a rapidly escalating pandemic. Instead we have been declared ebola free. But instead of humility from their folly being revealed, they just keep slinging mud at people who present facts. If I were a liberal with second thoughts on my beliefs and visited this site to check out conservative thinking, I think I would run screaming the other way. Fortunately I am from a line of conservatives that goes back hundreds of years, so I know not all conservatives are wearing gas masks and tinfoil hats right now.

Please describe the breaches in protocol you believe occurred, and your evidence for them.
And by “protocols”, I mean guidance on the CDC website in the “for healthcare workers” as of 9/28/14 (use the wayback machine if you didn’t save them).
Preach it, Øbola !
Rudeness is the weak persons imitation of strength
Yes I have seen your assessment. You mocked people that suggested they would not get it from riding on the plane with Duncan or the Nurse. Where are those cases?
You mocked people that suggested they would not get it from the bowling alley in NY. Where are those cases?
Given your track record, please forgive me if I don’t give your assessment much weight.
