Barack Obama checked all the boxes and touched all the bases during his career without, it seems, ever learning a single thing worth knowing. The tell with this man was the fact that he utterly lacks the humility that has marked men of wisdom since Confucius and Socrates. According to Obama, he was “a better speechwriter than his speechwriters,” a better economist, better banker, better planner, and so on down the line to poodle groomer, than anyone living. Obama committed the greatest crime against intelligence: he didn’t know what he didn’t know.
Paradoxically, this grotesque flaw served the country well. In his abject blindness, Obama raged ahead with “transformation” with no hesitation or sense of caution. People who actually knew things would have been more careful. Not Obama, who truly believed that he could operate the way the generalissimos did in his adopted country of Indonesia -- give his orders, flick the fly whisk, and move on. He knew nothing of history or the economic record -- or even that there was such a thing as a record. He had no Plan B’s or fallbacks in case anything went wrong -- what could possibly be the point? He was Obama -- what could go wrong?

The Obama administration has, from its outset, had the goal to race full-bore to realize as much of the eschaton as possible and damn the electoral consequences. They have every confidence, based of experience since the Wilson administration, that despite electoral thrashings they may suffer, the programs they put in place will never be rolled back by the GOP. Obama knows what he's doing. He's playing a longer game than the author understands.

The Levelers, as progressives were called in the days of the Founders, will always be with us. Their creed of envy, greed, cruelty and nihilism will always speak to a large portion of mankind and, like islam, its twin in evil, will rise to power whenever it is not faced down forcefully.
Bingo! They will lie low and lick their wounds for awhile, wait for folks to forget or for the voting block to reach an even lower level of competency, and they'll be back with a vengence. The next real attempt to grab power will be bolder and more "in your face" than ever. We don't know what's good for us, after all.
The title is incredibly naive. I heard the same kind of nonsense after the 1994 Bloodless Coup, with Limbaugh crowing “this is a conservative country!” Folks who are buying into that now are setting themselves up for failure again. That line of thinking seriously underestimates the lengths liberals will go to in order to gain power— the nature of liberalism is such that ethics are situational and lying, cheating, and stealing are legitimate means to an end. At base it’s a lawless worldview. These folks will never go away, never stop undermining the establishment, never stop attacking capitalism and democracy, never stop exploiting poor and minority voters, never stop revising history, never stop demonizing conservatives and the GOP. And they overwhelmingly control the media, the courts, and public education. The kind of rhetoric this article promotes leads to complacency, which will lead to ultimate defeat.

Precisely right. And his executive overreach is taking the country straight into a serious constitutional crisis. I don’t believe that many foresee how ugly this is going to get. It will shake the democratic foundations of this country. The true extent of Obama’s narcissism and fanaticism have yet to fully manifest themselves.
Sometimes that's the only way to learn.

It brought me great joy to witness the implosion on DU last week, and it is still burning. But if you pay close attention to what they actually say, they are in total disbelief that people would "vote against their own best interests". to these people it's not about what is right, fair or what protects our individual sovereignty, it's about what is in it for them.
I've almost completely lost confidence in our political system and government. Quite frankly, I don't think you'll be able to tell the difference between the US and the UK in 50 years.
To get Pedro’s vote you need to show them the night and day difference of assimilating. Show them how Mexico does business and how them doing that here (by cash under the table) will lead to the same poverty. Many of those who are proud to be American see that those who come here illegally and work for less wages actually hinder those who have legally set up businesses and begin to show nice profits. They cannot compete with cash wages or illegals who know how to get SS#’s illegally which saves companies thousands in benefits. Education is the best means and that means strong local republican groups showing the difference in black and white. We will and must cut down the govt. benefits or Margaret Thatcher’s line will come true...we’ll run out of money to afford their lavish (in their own way it is) lifestyles and the fan will be dirty!!
