What’s the chance that they “selectively” recovered emails or perhaps even “massaged” them a bit before turning them over?

Are you suggesting that the IRS might be corrupt? </shocked face>

To me the significance of this is that these were supposedly “lost forever.” How many more are going to be found now that were supposedly “lost forever?”

How about ZERO!

these were pulled from backup tapes and will likely be exported mail files in .PST format. If it was easy or routine to modify these, Businesses would have been doing in for years to avoid lawsuits. You cannot simply modify a mail store without leaving a trace, especially when its off of a backup. There will likely be forensics work in place to prevent ANY tampering or even the chance of it appearing tampered.

For forensic work like this, you use a Write blocker, when transferring or examining data.

One way to tell.

If Lerner has disappeared from the face of the earth you'll know the eMails are complete and unexpurgated.

If she is still walking around without a care in the world you'll know they have been edited of anything incriminating.

I really don’t think TIGTA is interested in covering up for IRS.

That’s a lot of massaging, but; they have had time especially with DNC help.

kind of hard to look thru 30K emails, but it is possible with a keyword searcher. Not the best time for them to do this, lots of people have next week to crowd-source them. Maybe, they are hoping it gets lost in the noise over the holidays.

I agree. Issa needs to request the raw data that they were recovered from and they need to contract out to private tech companies to audit the final product, and that includes spot checking for the same messages on the machines of multiple recipient messages as well as comparing the text of quoted replies internally and externally with the product that was submitted. They need count every space and every comma.

No thanks.

My thoughts too - the emails were probably electronically redacted so they might read like:
(space) the rules(space)(space)insure (space) groups get highest priority to aid our endeavor to (space)(space)(space)(space)......

The same chance that Democrats will magically find enough votes to win close elections. In other words, 105%.

There are ways to tell if they’ve done that.

I’ll be interested to see what’s in the recovered emails. They should be damning. If they aren’t, I hope that someone with expertise is aware that this is yet another 0vomit administration action that doesn’t pass the smell test. In that case, not only should Lerner go to jail, but everyone involved in the coverup.

One problem with coverups like this is that they can’t be done by just one person. There have to be several people involved. The political types and managers don’t have the tech expertise to do the scrubbing themselves. That means they have to find a tech expert, more likely a team of experts to do this for them. Every one on that team has to keep his mouth shut and is at risk of some serious jail time if they are found out. How long would it take to find a team like that?

There might be some who’d take the fall for 0vomit, but how many would do it for Lois Lerner?
