Why Release a Report on the CIA in Wartime?
Townhall.com ^ | December 11, 2014 | Cal Thomas

What good purpose is served by releasing a report on CIA enhanced interrogation techniques while we are still at war with an enemy whose techniques include beheading Americans?

Senate Intelligence Committee Chair Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and her Democratic colleagues say that the CIA lied about their tactics and exceeded their authority while seeking to obtain information from suspected terrorists.

There is a dispute among politicians and intelligence experts as to whether these tactics resulted in any information that was helpful in defending the U.S. from another terrorist attack. In a recent op-ed piece in the Wall Street Journal, former CIA Directors Michael Hayden, George J. Tenet and Porter J. Goss claim enhanced interrogation did provide useful information, which ultimately led to finding Osama bin Laden at his hideout in Pakistan. The CIA maintains the tactics, the use of which ended more than seven years ago, prevented new attacks and were responsible for gaining intelligence information from Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Jose Rodriguez Jr. is the former head of the CIA's National Clandestine Service and author of "Hard Measures: How Aggressive CIA Actions After 9/11 Saved American Lives." He says, "No matter what the Senate report says, I know it worked."

Whatever the ultimate truth contained in the 528-page document, which cost more than $40 million to produce, our enemies are bound to be encouraged and even more motivated. CIA agents are likely to be targeted. Demonstrations will occur throughout the world by people who enjoy the blessings of freedom without ever having to pay its price. And America will again be diminished in the eyes of some while the Taliban, al-Qaida and ISIS -- unrestrained by any laws or rules of engagement -- continue to sever heads and kill those, including women and children, who won't submit to their tyranny.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney says the interrogation tactics were reviewed by the Justice Department and were declared legal and that if he had to do it all over again, he would do the same thing.

Ah, but isn't America better than this, goes the argument by Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and others? Don't we set a bad example when we behave like our enemies? If good American behavior made our enemy engage in similar behavior, that might be a rational argument, but nothing we do short of killing them is likely to deter them from their goal.

In his eagerness to close Guantanamo prison, President Obama has sent six prisoners to Uruguay, of all places. The Uruguayan government says it will treat the men as "refugees" and not monitor their movements.

Justin Fishel and Jennifer Griffin of Fox News.com, spoke with senior defense and intelligence officials, and found that "Of the 620 detainees released from Guantanamo Bay, 180 have returned or are suspected to have returned to the battlefield. Of those 180, sources say 20 to 30 have either joined ISIS or other militants groups in Syria, or are participating with these groups from outside countries. Officials say most of those 20 to 30 are operating inside Syria."

Adding to the confusion over whether we are in this war to win it, is Hillary Clinton's stunning remark that we need to "understand" our enemy and even have "empathy" for them. Good to know before we consider electing her president.

There is one enhanced tactic most people might agree should be used -- winning this long war. We should commit ourselves to that, defeating those who wish to obliterate us, instead of worrying about whether or not we feel good about ourselves while we're doing it.

It all started with major leaks from Feinsteins’ staff. Criminal stuff, as though “normal leaks” is not.

And she wonders why the CIA doesn't trust socialists and commies in Congress?

Why indeed!

EVERYTHING obama does either:

a) Weakens America/Americans
b) Distances America's allies
c) Strengthens America's enemies
d) Serves Islam
e) Harms Israel
Or some combination of the above.
I have yet to have anyone raise a single substantive counter example in several years of posting this.

Unlike Mr. McCain, I have no problem whatsoever with regard to our (CIA’s) treatment of Muslim Jihadists, combatants, terrorists and the like.

From my perspective, I would be much more interested in the CIA’s activities with respect to American citizens this administration and its agencies has directed. Bible clinging, gun owning Americans who believe their government is not ruled by a Constitution and laws any more.

Frankly, I believe the majority of the agencies ( and you can put ALL of the three-lettered ones in this boat) this administration controls acts this way also, and I don’t trust any of them one little bit.

I really didn’t learn anything new. Waterboarding was already covered. The thing is, not only the CIA will be targeted but any white American traveling abroad. Prayers for those protecting our embassies.

While Difiswine and McAinal display their public crocodile tears, their buddies the Islamic Jihadist terrorists kill more and more innocent people.

Jihadism: Tracking a month of deadly attacks
BBC News ^ | 10 December 2014 | Christine Jeavans, Nassos Stylianou

Jihadist attacks killed more than 5,000 people in just one month, an investigation by the BBC World Service and King’s College London has found.

Civilians bore the brunt of the violence, with more than 2,000 killed in reported jihadist incidents during November 2014. Islamic State carried out the most attacks, adding to the spiralling death toll in Iraq and Syria. Explore the map to find out more.

The data gathered by the BBC found that 5,042 people were killed in 664 jihadist attacks across 14 countries - a daily average of 168 deaths, or seven every hour.

About 80% of the deaths came in just four countries - Iraq, Nigeria, Syria and Afghanistan, according to the study of media and civil society reports.

Iraq was the most dangerous place to be, with 1,770 deaths in 233 attacks, ranging from shootings to suicide bombings.

In Nigeria, 786 people, almost all of them civilians, were killed in 27 Boko Haram incidents. These tended to be large and indiscriminate bombings and shootings such as the attack on the central mosque in the northern city of Kano, which left 120 dead.

Boko Haram also struck over the border in Cameroon, killing 15 people. Meanwhile, in East Africa, al-Shabab took 266 lives in Somalia and Kenya.

Afghanistan suffered almost the same number of deaths as Nigeria (782) but they tended to be in smaller, targeted attacks, such as the shooting of the deputy governor of Kandahar.

In war-ravaged Syria, 693 people were killed; Yemen had 410 deaths in 37 attacks.

Of the 16 jihadist groups involved in the bloodshed, Islamic State was the most deadly, killing 2,206 people across Iraq and Syria - 44% of the total death toll.

It’s funny how this “report release” is being flogged here on FR and all over Conservadom.

Us conservatives are supposed to jump up and support the “defenders of America”, the CIA, like we always have.

Except some of us have woken up, done a tiny bit of research, and found out the the media and our history teachers never told us that the CIA and its precursor the OSS have always been filled with communists and minions of Wall Street elites.

Such an odd combination, hmmm.

And then we find out the CIA has always been in the drug business.

And Afghanistan still is producing 90% of the world’s heroin.

And NSA is spying ON US AMERICAN PATRIOTS, who are supposed to support said spying.

See, it’s all about “national security”.

So, conservative sheeple, just shut up and support the police state that screws you over every second of every day.

Otherwise you’re “un-American”.

Cuz you don’t support globalism that the CIA/NSA/NWO is intent on implementing.

How many more stories will we see on this stupid report ?

It’s not having ANY effect AT ALL on people who know that the evil rotten b@st@ards who run BOTH parties like puppets are the real power and control in OUR America, and the Bonesmen run the show in this regard.

Let me know when the banking system SHUTS DOWN money laundering completely (which they could do in 2 minutes by just issuing the instruction to stop it instead of pretending they “can’t find it”).

I’ll know when this has happened because illegal drugs will suddenly disappear completely.

But I won’t hold my breath, because the establishment drug lords have been operating for centuries and have no intent on shutting their business down.

Until then, I’ll know that “the Company” (yes, the CIA) is still IN BUSINESS, being the cover and protection for the drug business worldwide.

The liberals ignore this and if you ask them to name one terrorist that was killed by water boarding or having underwear put on his head, they stand there looking stupid with their mouth open.
