Neither the Louisiana Republicans nor the Democrats are interested in participating in the so-called "SEC primary" for the 2016 presidential nominations that most other states in the Deep South have decided to join.
Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi, Arkansas and Alabama are likely to hold their presidential primary contests on the same day -- March 1, 2016. Florida and Texas are also considering scheduling their primary contests on that date. But Louisiana seems poised to stick with it's original plan -- a March 5 primary contest.
"We are better off being on a date by ourselves. ... If you throw us in with Georgia and Texas, we are not going to get a whole lot of attention," said Jason Dore, executive director of the Republican Party of Louisiana.

Being in a place where TV stations serve 3 states, The campaign ads get so thick that you wish to see Flo and the Geico lizard again................
If LA votes 4 days after the SEC it is almost a forgone conclusion that the SEC winner will win in LA too.
That is correct. Candidates mostly spend a year kissing New Hampshire and Iowa’s butt then forgot the other states until late in the process. Pundits live off focusing only on those two states as well. They want then the people who didn’t do too well, but quickly drop out and don’t give them a chance.

Probably so, but the size of the other SEC states will make them more than large enough.
louisiana is the only state i have lived in, that has more voting days for more nonsense.
The referendums could be in July. As everybody saw, we cannot conduct just one election, no, we had to have a run-off, too!
We had not only national run-offs, but state seat and local runoffs, too!!!
