Good evening, ML...((HUGS))...how did The Blessing of the Bikes go? Lots of bikers? Did the soloist do well?
When our daughter and her fiancé began receiving wedding presents, it was a happy time. One gift they received was a bench cabinet that had to be assembled—and I volunteered for the task because they already had so much to do to prepare for the wedding. Although it took a couple of hours, it was much easier than expected. All of the wooden pieces were precut and predrilled, and all the hardware for assembly was included. The instructions were virtually foolproof.
Unfortunately, most of life isn’t that way. Life doesn’t carry with it simple instructions, nor do we find all of the necessary parts in hand. We face situations with no clear idea of what we’re getting into or what it will take to pull it off. We can easily find ourselves overwhelmed with these difficult moments.
But we need not face our burdens alone. God wants us to bring them to Him: “Be anxious for nothing, but . . . let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God . . . will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:6-7).
We have a Savior who understands and offers His peace in the midst of our struggles.

I was faithful to arrive on my bike, and fully planned to go to the Blessing, as I was told it was at noon. Just enough time to get home in time for a lesson.
But then, I was told it would not be till 2:00PM which would have cut into my much needed lesson time(I haven’t worked in two weeks and am flat BROKE!)
So, I played the songs, which were fine, and then went home.
Riding a Harley with a guitar on one’s back is somewhat stressful due to reduced mobility and peripheral vision. I am glad it was only a few miles, and I beat the rain.
The lesson went well...A lovely, vivacious, Asian High School student auditioning for a wicked stepsister in Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.
It was fun trying to coach this incredibly sweet, polite, gentle-spirited girl, to act like a you-know-what! Ha ha...Her Mom was in the room laughing her head off!

I can never get enough of stories of heroism like this.
When I was at risk during my service - well, I always did my duty, but I tried to stay as safe as I could. Putting yourself at risk ‘above and beyond the call of duty’ takes something very special indeed.

Thanks, galz, for presenting us with another brave American hero to look up to. We know that all these heroes love their country....and would be devastated to see what has become of her in the last 6-7 years!

Jack C. Montgomery (July 23, 1917 – June 11, 2002) was a United States Army officer and a recipient of the United States military's highest decoration—the Medal of Honor—for his actions in World War II.
crawled up a ditch to within hand grenade range of the enemy. Then climbing boldly onto a little mound, he fired his rifle and threw his grenades so accurately that he killed 8 of the enemy and captured the remaining 4. Returning to his platoon, he called for artillery fire on a house, in and around which he suspected that the majority of the enemy had entrenched themselves. Arming himself with a carbine, he proceeded along the shallow ditch, as withering fire from the riflemen and machinegunners in the second position was concentrated on him. He attacked this position with such fury that 7 of the enemy surrendered to him, and both machineguns were silenced. Three German dead were found in the vicinity later that morning. 1st Lt. Montgomery continued boldly toward the house, 300 yards from his platoon position. It was now daylight, and the enemy observation was excellent across the flat open terrain which led to 1st Lt. Montgomery's objective. When the artillery barrage had lifted, 1st Lt. Montgomery ran fearlessly toward the strongly defended position. As the enemy started streaming out of the house, 1st Lt. Montgomery, unafraid of treacherous snipers, exposed himself daringly to assemble the surrendering enemy and send them to the rear. His fearless, aggressive, and intrepid actions that morning, accounted for a total of 11 enemy dead, 32 prisoners, and an unknown number of wounded. That night, while aiding an adjacent unit to repulse a counterattack, he was struck by mortar fragments and seriously wounded. The selflessness and courage exhibited by 1st Lt. Montgomery in alone attacking 3 strong enemy positions inspired his men to a degree beyond estimation.
