A little more than two months ago, Mary Burke was hoping to trade in her modest Madison house for the governor's mansion.
That didn't work out so well for the Democratic gubernatorial candidate.
But Burke is still on the move. Records show she is selling her three-bedroom bungalow after she recently moved into an upscale apartment in downtown Madison.
Burke's 1,465-square-foot house in Madison's middle-class Atwood neighborhood is being listed for $259,900, according to the website for First Weber Group Realtors. Built in 1925, the house has a detached, one-car garage and a total of 10 rooms.
Burke, who was defeated by Republican Gov. Scott Walker in November, bought the house for $235,000 in 2011.
Reached via text message, Burke said the house was initially listed online in late December but that it first became available for general showings on Saturday.
Burke said she decided to move for "a number of personal factors." Asked what those were, she said, "I will pass."
During the campaign, she played up the fact that her house was located along the same route where her grandfather delivered mail years ago.

Mary Burke trades modest bungalow for toney Madison apartment. Does anybody else think this little house was just a campaign trapping?
FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this wisconsin interest ping list.
She’s trying to make a $24,900 profit on the election prop. Maybe she should ask Sen. Warren for some tips on flipping the house.
Does it come with a red pickup truck?
You can tell it’s in a lousy location — somebody living there has to shovel snow.
260 grand? For that? Madison must be a really expensive place to live!
“Madison must be a really expensive place to live!”
And it will be until the Socialists running it run out of, ‘other people’s money.’
Then, it’ll just be a dump like every other city or town they invade.
Madistan has held on longer than most - good base with the University, the Hospitals, the Unions and the biggest, most bloated Government you can imagine.
It truly IS, ‘The Worker’s Paradise!’
Wow! Their are 10 rooms in that house?
I wouldn’t live in the Atwood neighborhood if they paid me.
“Wow! Their are 10 rooms in that house?”
In my misspent youth I saw many such houses in Wisconsin and Minnesota. They really are neat little houses. The rooms aren’t big of course, but the houses are nice and cozy in winter (and in Wisconsin and Minnesota they’d have to be!).
She’s lucky Walker won because if she had won she would have destroyed the state’s economy and she’d have to sell it for 200k and take a loss.
Madison is home to UWisc.
Pretty much every big college town has inflated real estate due to the overall demand for housing and general fake prosperity fueled by borrowed student money.
Also largely insensitive to economic cycles.
