A woman I once knew when I was about 20, who was approaching middle age, the mom of my brother’s friend, once mentioned that when she was in high school one of the nuns yelled at her for getting a hair cut to make her look “like that trashy French actress, Bridgett Bardot.” She then said that she was appalled to be accused of that, but that in fact, that is exactly what she was trying to do.
