Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. vowed a firm response on Friday to what he called “appalling” racial misconduct by law enforcement officials in Ferguson, Mo., suggesting he was prepared to seek the dismantling of the police force there if necessary.
“We are prepared to use all the powers that we have, all the power that we have, to ensure that the situation changes there,” Mr. Holder told reporters here after returning from Columbia, S.C., where he appeared with President Obama at a town hall-style meeting at Benedict College. “That means everything from working with them to coming up with an entirely new structure.”
Asked if that included dismantling the police force, Mr. Holder said: “If that’s what’s necessary, we’re prepared to do that.”
His remarks came after two police supervisors in Ferguson resigned after being linked to racist emails turned up by a Justice Department investigation.
The two supervisors, Capt. Rick Henke and Sgt. William Mudd, left the force on Thursday, the city’s information office said Friday. A third employee, Mary Ann Twitty, clerk of the Municipal Court, was fired on Wednesday for her role in the emails.
Officials did not say whether any of the three actually wrote the emails, or whether other employees were involved in writing or forwarding them.
Captain Henke had been with the Ferguson Police Department since 1979, and was acting police chief for several months in 1997 and 1998. Last fall, he led a “night muster” formation of officers from other departments assigned to protect Ferguson’s Police Headquarters.

Noting that the only race-based issue that the states have delegated to the feds the specific constitutional power to regulate is voting rights, such protection evidenced by the 15th Amendment, Holder has no constitutional authority to do anything to any local police department imo. So maybe Holder’s payoff is winning votes for Democrats from low-information voters who don’t understand the federal government’s constitutionally limited powers.
Since when does the Justice Department have the authority to shut down a municipal police department?
His invading troops should be met by the National Guard.
The federal government has no power to do this. If it thinks it does, it is wrong. If there is a law saying it can do this, it is unconstitutional.
It seems the Federal government is about to start CW2.

Has there ever been an Attorney General in U.S. history as corrupt, transparently racist and unabashed as this one? If the answer is "yes," how much damage did he achieve? And how did the sane citizens of the U.S. "deal" with it?

One thing I Know is, I can’t respond to this Racist Maniac Holder and The Pinocchio we have in the White House.
I was raised on the west side of New York city in the mid 90’S and it was wonderful. I am now 80 years old and I wouldn’t walk or drive those neighborhoods that I was raised in. Both Holder and Obama couldn’t run a Cat House.

It would serve the whiners in Ferguson right if all the cops found another job, walked away and maybe filed a lawsuit against Holder, the city or whomever for creating a hostile work environment. The whiners complaint is that the cops are not Black-well, so let the city find qualified Black applicants to hire and train, and see how that works out...
At the very least, I’d like to see the Oath Keepers stand up to the Feds if they try nationalizing local police forces.
Until that happens they will continue to ride roughshod over the people.

If I was the county sheriff, I'd tell Holder to send is bunch of DoJ thugs to Ferguson and see how fast they are arrested, processed, and thrown into cells on bread and water. If Holder was a real leader, he'd come to Ferguson to see the job was done correctly — including the part where the sheriff locks his sorry ass in a cell.
As of 1865, the Federal Government has had the power to do whatever it wants.
