Need another indicator of climate warming in Antarctica? The trio of weather bloggers at Weather Underground report the temperature there likely hit a record-breaking 63.5F (17.5C) Tuesday.
The balmy reading was logged at Argentinas Esperanza Base, which lies on the northern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula.

Well that ends the discussion for me then. After all, the point is closest to the equator. Or maybe it's just an off course branch of the gulf stream. Yeah, that's it. Oh. Caveat is the word "may". Of course we'll have to wait on the ice core samples to know about before "recorded" history.

Quick, we need another tax or green energy subsidy to address this.

It’s early fall in the south.
So max temperature should have been a few weeks ago. But there are days where the weather doesn’t match the season due to an odd weather pattern.. It happens. There are occasionally days in the 90’s in early October in the north.

Obviously the sun is closer to the sun during southern hemisphere summer, (winter for Norte Hemi-sphere)

The distance tot he sun and the axial tilt of the earth have nothing to do with the temperature on the surface of the earth... Nuth-sing at all...

So it was pretty cold in the US this winter (I'm told, nice here in FL). This then proves that all the heat simply migrated down to the South Pole area. That totally explains why all the climate models keep coming up wrong. It's actually Global Climate Migration[tm]! Now, any time anything happens that is weather related, we can claim that it was caused by heat migrating to or from a certain area, and we don't need the facts to match our models.

No, it’s fall now. I think. Maybe they’re having indian summer type weather.

It was a mild winter in northern NV. Ski areas were hurtin’ this year. Snow pack is almost non-existent.

That’s like saying it hit the 70s in Point Barrow, Alaska.
When it’s consistently in the 80s at the South Pole, then talk to us.

Highest temperature ever recorded? There is coal under the surface so it was tropical at one time. No one was there to record the temperatures. No one was there to record the coldest temperatures either.

You are correct....its not continental Antarctica. My guess is they just recently started using this site to measure temps.
To: rktman
How can it be the highest temp? Antarctica used to be a rainforest...
