ECHO LAKE, Calif. – California Gov. Jerry Brown has ordered state officials to impose mandatory water restrictions for the first time in history as the state grapples with a serious drought.
In an executive order issued Wednesday, Brown ordered the state water board to implement reductions in cities and towns to cut usage by 25 percent.

He’s busy building the high speed train to nowhere, screwing the California farmers and appeasing the growing number of illegal aliens. Why not put lots of people to work, building dams and reservoirs. No, he’ll gasp and whine about “global warming...” while California’s population continues to grow and water continues to dwindle. Must say, the people of California get exactly what they deserve!
Wow! Thanks for the links! I knew Israel was a pioneer in desalination but didn't know they were projecting 70% of water supply replacement in 35 years. And there you have it sports fans.

It reminds me of something Newt said a few years back. "From 1941 to 1945 we defeated Nazi Germany, fascist Italy and Imperial Japan. Today it takes 23 years to add a 5th runway to the Atlanta airport. We're simply not prepared to be a serious country."
Unfortunately California will never be that serious about the problem. And therefore the desert will reclaim it.
But they do have foresight. They are more concerned about the environment, fish and animals than they are about humans. How can you tell? Take a look at Agenda 21, and you'll see the current leadership's foresight.

You and I both agree we should be prudent when it comes to nature and our resources, but these folks have gone stark raving nuts.

People just don’t give a dam, and too many of them aren’t worth a dam....
They act as though conservation and caring for the environment is some new concept developed by liberals over the last few years, when in reality, it was engrained in me from the time I was very young and started being introduced to the great outdoors. I can't ever remember a time we didn't "pack it out" and "took only pics, left only tracks" - that's kind of how we roll. We understand that we are stewards of the environment (God told us so in the Bible, right?), and that is where most of our sustenance comes from. We would be idiots to act like the left seems to think we Conservatives do.
And yes, I do agree - leftists, in general, are stark raving mad, as a matter of principle. :)
Thanks for the link. Did you notice the word Israel didn’t even appear in the article? You would think it’s percentage of water from desalinization would be somewhat significant, and yet it isn’t even listed.

Sorry....it was just too easy.
I didn’t bother to look into that, and don’t really care about Israel using desalination, since that Middle Eastern country is in it’s own unique situation with costs, water availability, politics and national defense issues, but these figures are from 2011 anyway.

I do care, and the reason is that if a small country can absorb the cost, then a large nation should be able to also.
Most folks think desalinization would break the bank. Israel proves it doesn’t. That’s an important object lesson for the public to be aware of.
If Israel can do it, there’s no reason whatsoever why Los Angeles can’t.
One think tank proposal was to take decommissioned nuclear subs, essentially beach them and generate desalinized water from the reactor. That as opposed to dismantling them then storing the reactor parts.
