North Charleston, S.C. A white police officer in South Carolina is charged with murder after a bystander recorded video of him shooting and killing an apparently unarmed black man in the back as he ran way from the scene of a traffic stop.
The New York Times posted the video Tuesday. It is disturbing. (Scroll down to see video.)
Officer Michael T. Slager, 33, claimed he feared for his life because the man took a stun gun during a scuffle Saturday, but the video does not confirm that.
The video shows Slager firing eight times and shooting Walter L. Scott, 50, in the back as Scott loped away across a grassy lot.
Scott was driving a Mercedes-Benz and had been stopped by Slager for a broken tail light, according to police reports cited in the Times story.
At the time, Scott was wanted for arrest on a Family Court warrant, Charleston County sheriffs Maj. Eric Watson said Tuesday. (Source: The Post and Courier)
The police reports said Slager fired his Taser at Scott, and Scott turned to run away from the guns electrical current, which could be seen extending from his body.
Happens that I agree with you, but I believe you're the first one to mention Ferguson.
More like apples and tunafish.
Looks like murder and the cop will probably be convicted but the media, the left, and the useful idiots aren’t satisfied so they add other scenarios to help with the next great national distraction.
Fondling something else I bet.
One thing the video shows is that that 9mm Glock the cop was carrying didn’t exactly throw the perp for a loop.
Good news is that his child support will be caught up! /s Paid by the taxpayers.
Killed him though. Long long ago buddy of mine cut a guy nearly in half by a couple of rounds from a ma deuce. Took him a short while to die too.
Probably quite a few dollars for the Mercedes were paid for by taxpayers.
Dead man was retired military.
Actually you have framed it wrong. The decision is by the runner.....
Do I run and die or do I submit to the law
If you run, you risk getting shot....... that’s the way it must be. Otherwise we have surrendered to the criminals.
“I agree, you are making a sound point. Anything goes should never be allowed for police recruitment.”
Yes, and the hot issue of minority recruitment is the third rail for anyone daring to question such lax hiring standards.
Slager has some complaint history:
“Documents released by the force show that one complaint in January 2015 involving failure to file a police report was sustained though it was unclear what disciplinary action Slager faced, if any.
Slager was cleared of another complaint regarding use of force. In that case, a man alleged Slager had used his Taser for no reason and slammed him to the ground in September 2013. The officer was exonerated upon investigation, documents from the North Charleston Police Department show. “
Ann Coulter Letter
Would it kill you to hire more black cops? (Yes)

If the Ferguson police are forced to hire more minorities and women for the sake of diversity, the one thing we can be sure of is that more black people will be murdered, raped, and assaulted.
Someones got to say it, so it might as well be me: Im against more black people being murdered, raped, and assaulted.
In a massive, detailed 2000 study of the effect of court-ordered affirmative action plans on police departments, economist John Lott found that the more minorities on a police force, the higher the rates of murder, manslaughter, violent crime, robbery, and aggravated assault will be. Violent crime increased by a minimum of 3.3 percent every year after affirmative action policies went into effect and the spike in crime was highest in black neighborhoods.

We have no idea why he ran, and the only guy who can talk is the cop who shot a man in the back, planted a weapon and lied about everything.
“If you run, you risk getting shot....... thats the way it must be. Otherwise we have surrendered to the criminals.”
If you really think that “that’s the way it must be,” then you’ve already surrendered to the State.
When we can't even call a clear excess of state power what it is for fear that some sleazy character might use the example to get off, then we have failed. The Left never loses sight of their organizing principle - Expand the State - no matter much their factions might hate each other. We always forget that our organizing principle must be Shrink the State. Too many of us seem to fear we might need to exercise all that glorious State power one day to go after people we don't like. They even go so far as to defend bad actors like this guy in support of that misguided fear.
Conservatism should be about conserving the radical spirit of Liberty laid down by the Founding Fathers.
That the officer has been charged with murder will make no difference.
This is obviously more important than any one of the Crackers murdered every 18 hrs by blacks.
Just remember kids the penalty for a broken tail light is a good tazing followed by a quick death.
I loved the way after the cop killed the guy he yelled at him to put his hands behind his back.
Actually, I saw an interview with a black man in South Carolina who mentioned it.
My guess is that when the criminal case is adjudicated Slager will take a plea to manslaughter and be sentenced to a term in prison for a number of years.
If Slager had a history of complaints, then his superiors have some responsibility for allowing him to continue without some close supervision at least.
“stopped by Slager for a broken tail light”
This is why the state likes seatbelt laws. Gives another excuse to pull folks over and up the arrest.
That's the part that got me too. Its like... I just shot you multiple times in the back. I want to make sure you die with your hands cuffed behind your back.
Hannity will bleed barrels of blood over this to make sure everyone knows how hurt he is. Some time back, a police officer murdered an unarmed white student in Texas; no one noticed.
