Going to turn?

Possibly. They trumped up the worst charge against him, didn't cover his entire bail, and he's afraid for his family's safety.

Seems there's dissention in the ranks.

What does he know that they don't want getting out? Why is he so horrified over the death, if it was just an accident?

Or was it?

"This is going to turn into a total zoo."

I was thinking a circus about six times the George Zimmerman trial.

Like Zimmerman, it looks like the officers have probably been overcharged -- unless they move the trial to the DC suburbs. Even if this gets to a jury, I really don't see a jury of 12 Baltimoreans all agreeing that the officers committed any crime.

There were a couple of posts yesterday about the city being sued with high amount awarded because of “nickel rides” and major injuries. Worth a search from all of us. What were the names of officers or territories of those incident.
Stop 2 that they had neglected to report was NOT on route to the final destination

if a mother doesn’t belt her kids into a seat, can she be charged for attempted murder?

If nothing happened to the child, but the mother is pulled over for a traffic stop, she would be immediately charged with child endangerment. The child would go to child protective services and she would be jailed.

"What’s up with “the other prisoner” and his story of no rough ride?"

Exactly. His hearing Gray banging is game over for the prosecution.

Why are some charged twice for things and others charged only once? Also, why can they charge for murder AND manslaughter when only one guy died?

I am not saying he did anything wrong. I am just saying neither did the others and he shouldn’t pass blame. Like another poster said, it came from a family member, not him. It may be totally off the mark to say he is blaming others.

"Yes, if her child dies as a result, she could be faced with involuntary manslaughter, vehicular homicide, or similar charges. There are many such cases on record."

True. But that's not what Officer Caesar Goodson is being charged with. He is being charged with “second-degree ‘depraved heart murder.”

IMO, that's a stretch. (He might be convicted of offenses you listed, or of reckless driving. But Mosby seems to be going for a Hail Mary pass.)

From the short transcript I read, it sounds not so much like he was trying to injure himself as that he was being rowdy. The guy tested positive for heroine and pot (I think it was) So he was high, he wanted out and he did what Bolt did when Bolt was in the dog catcher van (Pixar movie) — he slammed himself against the door to try to jar it open. I’m not saying that was smart. I am saying that’s what a drugged and crazed individual might do.

I’m not sure why he is being blamed from not restraining Gray.

Is it his job to retrain people placed in the back of the van by police officers?

Like I illustrated in my example, it makes sense why a van driver would have police officers come and deal with their prisoners instead of he himself dealing with their prisoners alone on the side of the street somewhere.

If I was a van driver, I would not open the back of the van at all by myself. To do so seems like asking for very bad things to happen to me. Prisoners are dangerous. Angry people in general are dangerous.

You try to help them, they kill you. That’s how people do sometimes.

So far I have seen no evidence at all that this van driver tried to kill Gray, or wanted Gray injured, or did anything at all suspicious, and it seems preposterous to me that he is charged with second degree murder.

To the prosecutor I say how did he murder Gray? Go on, draw a picture for me, step by step, paint a picture of murder for me. Show me.

I think a drugged arrestee was slamming himself against the back door hoping to jar the door open. Instead he broke his own neck.

Many arrested also kick out the window of the back seat of the cruiser too.

What I heard was that the policy had changed on April 9th to require all passengers be restrained. They failed to do that. But the policy had just changed and they were not used to it.

I understand what you are saying about the driver not going back there, but it is not a brinks truck. I don’t think the risk is a lot less if someone else goes back there.

Twitter still has the “C.O.P.KillerSociety” twitter page still up.

Amazing how that works in the twit-world.

“When he became irate Caesar called in and said ‘you have got to restrain him.’ That’s on the audio,” he said.

This plus the other guy’s statement about Grey throwing himself around in the van makes me think this case yet another nothingburger like the rest.

Ever heard of a heroin addict banging his head? Some Aussies see their sheep banging their head and relate to heroin addicts.
